Gonzalez was not in the starting lineup, but did pinch hit in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Just when it seemed Gonzalez was emerging from an early-season slumber, his bat went quiet again. He followed up a 7-for-14 stretch by going 16 straight at-bats (now 17) without a hit, prompting manager A.J. Hinch's decision to have him start Monday's game on the bench. After Monday's game, his average is down to .225.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has three consecutive multi-hit games which continues a surge that began in April. Since dropping to a season-low batting average of .164 on April 16, Gonzalez has hit .333 (22-for-66) with 18 RBI over 18 games.

Gonzalez went 3-for-6 with a home run and five RBI in Monday's 16-2 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has multiple hits in two straight games, the latest effort to jump-start his season. His two-game surge raised his average to .248, its highest point since the first game of the season when he went 1-for-3. Despite the meager hitting percentages, Gonzalez has spent most of his time batting sixth where RBI opportunities happen. He's third on the Astros with 22 RBI, trailing Carlos Correa and George Springer.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 during Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has been scuffling to start the season, slashing .234/.331/.333 through 33 games. He'll look to build off Sunday's multi-hit performance moving forward as he looks to turn it around at the plate. The Astros begin a three-game series with the Athletics on Monday.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Stuck below the Mendoza Line for much of April and at a season low .164 on April 16, Gonzalez has slowly crept up to respectability. Since getting a day off to reset, he's gone 13-for-37 (.351) while knocking in 11 runs over nine games, raising his average to .239. Gonzalez still has a way to go to replicate his breakout season, but he's provided a hopeful sign that last season is not an outlier.

Gonzalez is not in the lineup Friday against the Athletics, Alyson Footer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The off day is just Gonzalez's third in the Astros' opening 27 games, leaving him on pace to start 144 times despite not being nailed down as a starter at any one position. The 29-year-old is hitting just .224 through his opening 100 plate appearances, though his 13 percent walk rate is more than double his career mark of 6.2 percent.

Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a pair of walks in Tuesday's loss to the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez had been hovering at or below the Mendoza Line for the opening few weeks of the season, but he's started to turn a corner of late. In the last four games, he's hitting .438 (7-for-16) with six RBI and a pair of runs scored. The 29-year-old still has just one home run after blasting a career-high 23 last year, but he'll get plenty of chances to drive in runs hitting in the defending Champs' loaded lineup.

Gonzalez went 1-for-5 with a two-run double in Sunday's 7-1 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez hit a second bases-loaded, ground-rule double in as many games and is slowly beginning to make an impact in the loaded Astros lineup. The bat's been very quiet early in 2018, but he's gone 6-for-20 (.300) with six RBI over the past five games.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Like many in the Astros' lineup over the past week, Gonzalez has been quieted by opposing pitchers. He entered Wednesday's game in a 2-for-20 slide before he delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning that ignited a six-run inning. The two-hit night raised his season batting average to .186. It would be easy to dismiss his breakout 2017 campaign as a fluke event, but in the middle of this powerful offense, we suggest patience.
