His .162 BABIP limited his batting average to just .189, but he had a nearly average 95 wRC+ thanks to a career-best .250 ISO and hit 13 homers in 208 plate appearances. He's mostly performed at a backup level throughout his career and should fill that role behind Travis d'Arnaud for at least two more seasons and possibly a third, as Atlanta also gets a $4 million team option for 2024 as part of the deal.

Pina went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Cardinals.

Pina smashed a solo shot off Andrew Miller in the seventh to provide Milwaukee with an insurance run Wednesday night. While Omar Narvaez (the Brewers' primary catcher) is hitting just .194 with no home runs in September, Pina has gotten hot. The backup backstop is hitting .269 with four long balls over that same span. Late September is not an opportune time to be messing around with your battery, but if Pina keeps hitting like this expect to see him get some at-bats in the postseason.
