Pina was placed on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation Thursday, retroactive to April 25.
EDGE Analysis
Pina didn't appear in the last two games, and he was apparently unavailable due to his wrist injury. He'll be eligible to return as early as May 6 against the Brewers, but it's not yet clear how much time he'll need to recover. William Contreras was recalled by Atlanta to serve as the No. 2 catcher in Pina's absence.

Pina (wrist) will start at catcher and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Pina wasn't available for Atlanta's Grapefruit League finale April 5 due to a sore left wrist, but the team's decision to carry him on the season-opening 28-man roster seemingly implied that the injury wasn't anything worrisome. Travis d'Arnaud or William Contreras had started behind the plate in each of Atlanta's first four games, but with both resting Monday, Pina will enter the lineup for his 2022 debut.

Pina was scratched from the lineup ahead of Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays due to a sore left wrist.
EDGE Analysis
Pina won't be available for Atlanta's spring finale and can be viewed as day-to-day as Thursday's Opening Day game against the Reds approaches. Atlanta plans to carry two other catchers -- Travis d'Arnaud and William Contreras -- on its Opening Day roster, so the team would have adequate coverage at the position even if Pina isn't available for the four-game series versus Cincinnati.

Pina joined Atlanta on a two-year, $8 million contract Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pina had a strange season at the plate in 2021. His .162 BABIP limited his batting average to just .189, but he had a nearly average 95 wRC+ thanks to a career-best .250 ISO and hit 13 homers in 208 plate appearances. He's mostly performed at a backup level throughout his career and should fill that role behind Travis d'Arnaud for at least two more seasons and possibly a third, as Atlanta also gets a $4 million team option for 2024 as part of the deal.

Pina went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Pina smashed a solo shot off Andrew Miller in the seventh to provide Milwaukee with an insurance run Wednesday night. While Omar Narvaez (the Brewers' primary catcher) is hitting just .194 with no home runs in September, Pina has gotten hot. The backup backstop is hitting .269 with four long balls over that same span. Late September is not an opportune time to be messing around with your battery, but if Pina keeps hitting like this expect to see him get some at-bats in the postseason.

Pina went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk in Saturday's win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Pina has three home runs over his last four games and now has 12 in what has been a career-best season for the backstop in terms of power. He doesn't bring much else to the table as he's hitting only .201 through 67 games, though he does have a .771 OPS thanks to a career-best .459 slugging percentage.

Pina went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, two runs scored and three RBI in Sunday's 11-1 win against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
It was Pina's first start since he was activated from the injured list and he wasted no time making an impact. He knocked an RBI single in the second inning followed by a two-run shot in the third. It was his fist multi-hit game since Aug. 14 and he bumped his slash line up to .195/.298/.422 with 10 homers and 30 RBI through 178 plate appearances.

Pina (oblique) was activated off the injured list Friday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pina's oblique issue wound up sidelining him for less than two weeks. He'll return to his role backing up Omar Narvaez behind the plate, with Luke Maile optioned to clear a roster spot.

Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Pina (oblique) will likely be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point during the Brewers' upcoming weekend series in Cleveland, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pina is eligible to return from the IL on Wednesday, but the Brewers will give him a few more days to recover from left oblique tightness. Once reinstated, Pina will displace Luke Maile as the top backup to No. 1 catcher Omar Narvaez.

Pina was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with left oblique tightness. The move is retroactive to Aug. 29.
EDGE Analysis
Pina apparently suffered the injury during Saturday's game against the Twins while going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Luke Maile was promoted from Triple-A to serve as the backup to Omar Narvaez in Pina's absence.
