Pina (thumb) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear where Pina stands with his thumb injury, but he did not play Friday in some way for the first time since Sept. 6, so it seems at the least he is unable to play a full nine innings yet. It remains to be seen if he is available off the bench Saturday.

Pina sprained his left thumb during the 10th inning of Thursday's game against the Cubs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pina did not participate in batting practice prior to Friday's game, and is once again out of the lineup with a right-hander on the mound for Chicago. With Kyle Hendricks, another righty, set to toss Saturday, it appears as though manager Craig Counsell could choose to start Stephen Vogt for a third straight game, especially if Pina is unable to compete. He should be considered day-to-day for the time being, and may be deployed as a pinch hitter depending on the severity of this setback.

Pina is not in the lineup against the Cubs on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
With right-hander John Lackey taking the hill for Chicago, Pina will once again step aside as Stephen Vogt handles the duties behind the dish. Pina will likely join the game as a pinch hitter, just as he did during Thursday's series opener.

Pina is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
As has been the case recently, Pina will give way to Stephen Vogt behind the dish with a right-handed pitcher (Jake Arrieta) toeing the rubber for the opposition. Expect Pina to be available off the bench as a defensive replacement.

Pina is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Pina will give way to Stephen Vogt behind the dish as the two continue to split duties. While the starts have been shared pretty evenly, Pina has collected a few extra at-bats while serving as a defensive replacement late in games for Vogt, something that will likely continue down the stretch.

Pina is out of the lineup against the Marlins on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Pina will continue sharing the catcher's spot with Stephen Vogt, as he takes a seat on the bench for the third time in the last five games. The two have been alternating fairly regularly, and that appears to be continuing into the series against Miami.

Pina is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
He and Stephen Vogt have been alternating starts lately, and that relatively even split of the workload will likely continue for the rest of the season. Pina is just 2-for-14 since his return from a hip issue earlier this month.

Pina is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Pina is stuck in a 3-for-25 slump dating back to Aug. 18, so Stephen Vogt will handle catching duties for the second straight day. Though Pina still looks to be the top option behind the plate due to his strong body of work this season both offensively and defensively, he could end up splitting time with Vogt until he turns a corner as a hitter.

Pina is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
He has started the last two games behind the dish after missing time briefly with a hip injury. Stephen Vogt will start at catcher and hit sixth against righty Robert Stephenson.

Pina (hip) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Hip issues have kept Pina from starting at catcher for four straight games, with all of those starts going to Stephen Vogt. Vogt will get the day off Sunday, however, as Pina will resume his regular role behind the plate. Look for Pina and Vogt to continue sharing time down the stretch in an effort to prevent Pina's hip issues from flaring back up. Pina did note that he felt "great" following Saturday's pinch-hit appearance, so perhaps he's ready to take on a steadier workload.
