Smith went 2-for-4 with a run in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 18-4 loss was a complete washout on a team level for the Mariners, but Smith's work at the plate was one of the few reasons for optimism. The speedy outfielder put a recent minor-league sabbatical to good use, seemingly correcting some plate mechanics that had led to an abysmal start to the season at the big-league level. Smith's multi-hit effort Saturday followed his solo home run Thursday in the opening game of the series, which was also his first game back from Triple-A Tacoma. While it's going to take some time for his current .176/.262/.278 line to get up to acceptable levels, Smith's early work since returning lends credence to the notion he's heading in the right direction.

Smith went 1-for-4 in his return to the majors Thursday, belting a solo home run in his first at-bat during a loss to Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
The speedy center fielder wasted no time showing he was happy to be back with the big club after 10 games with Triple-A Tacoma, taking Michael Pineda deep in the third inning. It was Smith's second home run of the season and ninth of his career. Of course, his primary asset is his speed, having stolen 40 bases last season.

Smith is starting in center field and hitting ninth Thursday against the Twins, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners will waste no time reinserting Smith into the lineup after recalling the outfielder from Triple-A Tacoma earlier Thursday. It appears Smith, who hit .333/.375/.476 with a homer and seven stolen bases in a 10-game stint with the Rainiers before returning to the big club, will get a chance to immediately reclaim a starting job at the expense of Jay Bruce, who is sitting out Thursday.

Smith was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shed Long was sent back to the minors to free up a roster spot for Smith, who is back with the big club after smoothing out some kinks at the plate in the minors. The outfielder hit .333/.375/.476 with a homer, seven stolen bases and a 3:4 BB:K in 10 games for the Rainiers. Smith could steal playing time from all-or-nothing Jay Bruce in the outfield and could quickly reclaim an everyday role if he builds off his success from the minors.

Smith, who entered Monday's action hitting .350 (14-for-40) with three doubles, one home run, six RBI, three walks, seven stolen bases and eight runs in nine games with Triple-A Tacoma, could be returning to the Mariners soon, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was sent down to the Rainiers to work on his mechanics at the plate after a rough start to the season, and the numbers he's generated imply he's largely accomplished that goal. The speedy outfielder started his 10th game for Tacoma on Monday, with manager Scott Servais emphasizing how good the reports he's received on Smith have been, a return to the big-league club could certainly be in the cards over the coming days.

Smith, who went 3-for-5 with an RBI single in Triple-A Tacoma's loss to Reno on Tuesday, is now hitting .474 (9-for-19) over his first four games with the Rainiers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was sent down to the farm to essentially fix his swing, and the numbers indicate he's wasted no time getting down to that task. The 26-year-old has multiple hits in each contest with Tacoma thus far, a stark contrast to the struggles he endured at the big-league level to open the season. If Smith continues churning out a similar caliber of production in coming days, his return to the Mariners should unfold in the relatively near future.

Smith went 4-for-9 with two doubles, a walk, three stolen bases and two runs in his first two games with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday and Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith's weekend tear represented an excellent start to his minor-league sabbatical, one intended to help him sort out his mechanics at the plate. The speedy outfielder had gotten his big-league campaign off to a rough start, as he'd slashed just .165/.255/.247 in the first 27 games of the season. Smith is slated to remain with the Rainiers for multiple games before a potential return to the majors is considered, but his first two games in Tacoma certainly buttress the notion the temporary change in scenery may have been just what he needed to snap out of his funk.

Smith was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has struggled mightily at the dish so far in 2019, slashing .165/.255/.247 with five RBI and eight stolen bases over 27 games. He'll look to return to form during his upcoming trip to the minors. The Mariners have recalled Braden Bishop from the Rainiers in a corresponding move.

Smith remains on the bench Friday against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith sits for the second straight contest. He's hitting .180 on the season and just .079 over his last 12 games. Jay Bruce returns from a sore quadriceps to start in right field, pushing Mitch Haniger to center.

Smith is not in the lineup Thursday against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith is just 3-for-33 (.091) over his last 10 games, so he'll head to the bench for Thursday's series finale as he looks to clear his head. Mitch Haniger will cover center field in his absence, with Dylan Moore starting in left field.
