Smith went 4-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in a loss to the White Sox on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith played his table-setting leadoff role to perfection, serving as a thorn in the side of White Sox pitching all afternoon. The speedy outfielder also swiped his 23rd bag of the season, good for eighth in all of baseball and third in the American League. Smith has followed up a stellar July in which he hit .377 by going 7-for-12 with a double, a triple, two RBI, five walks, five stolen bases and two runs over his first five games (four starts) of August.

Smith went 1-for-2 with an RBI bunt single, two walks and his 21st stolen base of the season in a loss to the White Sox on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was potentially set to see a dip in playing time as part of the domino effect of the trade-deadline acquisition of Tommy Pham (foot), but with the latter placed on the disabled list Friday, the speedster was in the starting lineup. Smith made plenty happen out of the nine hole, including laying down a game-tying bunt single in the eighth that brought home Joey Wendle. It's difficult to justify not having Smith in the lineup as often as possible these days, as he's slashing .388/.462/.642 with a .462 wOBA over the 78 plate appearances encompassing his last 23 games.

Smith is out of the lineup Thursday against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
With southpaw Andrew Heaney on the bump for the Angels, Smith will retreat to the bench, paving the way for Carlos Gomez to enter the lineup. It's expected that the newly-acquired Tommy Pham will fill an everyday role in the outfield alongside Kevin Kiermaier, which could put Smith and Gomez in line for platoon duty in right field.

Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs in a win over the Angels on Tuesday. He was also picked off first base in the eighth inning.
EDGE Analysis
With a .288/.352/.401 line for the season, Smith isn't typical bottom-of-the-order fodder, which he substantiated Tuesday with his sixth multi-hit effort of the month. Smith has hit safely in 10 of the last 12 games, finishing July with an excellent .377/.435/.607 line across 69 plate appearances, easily his best stretch at the plate this season. The 25-year-old's surge comes after a couple of subpar months and has kept him an effective and diverse component of a strong Rays offense.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The speedster will head to the bench after seven consecutive starts in the outfield, during which he went 10-for-24 with five extra-base hits, seven runs, five RBI and a stolen base. Smith cedes right field to Carlos Gomez in the series finale.

Smith went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and one run scored in Sunday's 6-4 walkoff victory over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Smith drove in his 24th run of the season in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to left field, cutting Tampa Bay's deficit to three. He's been productive at the plate of late, collecting a hit in eight of his previous 10 matchups with six extra-base hits, six RBI and two stolen bases over that stretch. Smith has posted a .288 average with 24 RBI and 17 stolen bases through 89 games in 2018.

Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI, one walk and three runs scored Saturday in the Rays' 19-6 win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The speedster has been given erratic assignments in the starting lineup but stepped up when trusted Saturday, logging two extra-base knocks and a single to raise his seasonal slash line to .279/.345/.385 in 299 plate appearances. Smith's chief value comes in his ability to steal bases, though he's again struggled with success rate, going 16-for-23 after a 16-for-21 showing in his abbreviated 2017 workload, which he's nearly matched at this point in 2018. That's still a fine pace for helping fantasy owners in deeper mixed leagues, though, even if he doesn't start a full slate of games each week.

Smith is out of the lineup for Friday's game at Minnesota, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith has now started only six of 12 games, despite going 7-for-20 with three extra base hits. Joey Wendle grabs the start in left field for Tampa Bay.

Smith (hamstrings) will bat ninth and start in right field Wednesday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Smith had been withheld from the Tampa Bay lineup for the first two games of the series with Detroit after exiting Sunday's win over the Mets with cramps in both of his hamstrings. The extra rest was apparently all Smith needed to recover from the issue, as he'll avoid a trip to the disabled list and re-enter the starting nine in his normal spot in the outfield. Carlos Gomez will retreat to the bench after drawing back-to-back starts.

Smith (hamstring) is not in Monday's lineup against the Tigers, but may be available off the bench, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Kevin Cash said Sunday that Smith should be available for the first game of this series against Detroit, so while he is not in the lineup, he could appear as a pinch runner or pinch hitter. Smith is only hitting .200/.286/.340 with three steals over his last 20 games (50 at-bats).
