Valbuena's absence from Wednesday's lineup is not injury related, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
There doesn't appear to be any concern over Valbuena's status after he was removed from Wednesday's starting lineup. He should return to Cactus League action in the coming days. The 32-year-old is expected to share time at first base with Albert Pujols this season.

Valbuena was scratched from Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Indians, Jeff Fletcher of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena was listed on Wednesday's lineup card at the hot corner but didn't take the field at the start of the game. At this point, there has been no reason given to as why Valbuena was scratched from the game, but there will likely be an update on his status in the coming hours.

The Angels are lowering the right-field fence by 10 feet, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed Valbuena looks set to benefit from this change. Angel Stadium was one of the tougher parks for lefties to hit homers in last season, but this change should mitigate that somewhat. Valbuena's 42.3 percent pull percentage in 2017 was above the league average (39.8 percent), so he's likely to hit a few balls out this year that would have hit the wall last year. Of course, he'll have to hit a good deal better than his .199/.294/.432 line from last year in order to play enough for this change to really boost his fantasy value.

Valbuena will see the majority of his at-bats at first base, and will fill in occasionally throughout the infield Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena is expected to be in a platoon role this season for the Angels. General manager Billy Eppler stated the 31-year-old will get most at-bats at first base against right-handers, but he'll also fill in at third on occasion and at second in case of an emergency. Eppler went on to say "he'll be in that lineup very regularly" and "pretty much the entire time against a right-handed pitcher". As Albert Pujols continues to recover from a foot injury look for Valbuena to see ample opportunities at first base during spring training, especially with C.J. Cron out of the mix.

Valbuena isn't in the lineup Sunday against the Mariners, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Angels will start Kaleb Cowart at the hot corner while Valbuena heads to the bench. Valbuena offered decent power this season, as he hit 22 home runs over 116 games. However, it came at a cost as he'll end the season with a dismal .197 batting average.

Valbuena is not in the lineup Friday for the second day in a row.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena started the last 17 games at third base, but he is hitting just .155 this month, and manager Mike Scioscia decided it was finally time for a mental break. Cliff Pennington will man the hot corner for the Angels on Friday night.

Valbuena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena had been on a power binge in the second half, but he had cooled off in the 10 games (.111/.242/.185) prior to hitting his 21st homer of the season Tuesday. The slugging third baseman has been known to hit homers in bunches, so he is worth a look during the Angels final four games of the season in case he provides an encore performance.

Valbuena went 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run home run in Wednesday's victory over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The slugging third baseman's two-run shot off Mike Fiers capped off a five-run first inning for the Halos. Valbuena reached the 20-homer mark for the second time in his career, and while his batting average remains below the Mendoza line, his .909 OPS since the All-Star break has helped fantasy owners in the power department.

Valbuena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The home run was Valbuena's 13th since the All-Star break and 19th of the year. He sits against lefties, but Valbuena's role against right-handers is safe with Yunel Escobar (oblique) shut down again following another setback.

Valbuena is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
As usual, Valbuena will head to the bench with a lefty (Andrew Albers) throwing for the opposition. In his absence, C.J. Cron and Cliff Pennington will hold down the corner infield spots.
