Luis Valbuena went 3-for-4 with a solo homer in a losing effort against the Reds on Friday. Since the arrival of Josh Vitters, Valbuena has lost his grip on the everyday third baseman's job in Chicago. The veteran infielder is hitting a paltry .221 with four homers and 20 RBI on the season, and isn't an option in all but the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Luis Valbuena went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer in Monday's win over the White Sox. That's now two longballs over the last three games and seven RBI over five contests since taking over as the starter at third base. Valbuena will cool off, but he should be owned in NL-only formats.

Luis Valbuena had his first hit as a Cub on Saturday, a three-run homer off Jon Lester in a losing effort against the Red Sox. Valbuena finished the night 1-for-3 with the tater. He's started three consecutive games at third base for the Cubs now, and could see more time there with Ian Stewart sidelined. He's never shown much power or speed in his major league career and shouldn't be considered an option in all but the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Luis Valbuena homered and doubled in his only two at-bats Wednesday as a Jays split-squad topped the Pirates 8-6. The Jays are only planning to keep one backup infielder, and Omar Vizquel looms as the clear favorite. However, since Valbuena is out of options, he figures to have a spot on someone's roster if he excels this month. He's always been a nice Triple-A hitter, and at 26, he still has time to put it together in the majors.

Blue Jays acquired INF Luis Valbuena from the Indians for cash considerations. Valbuena was designated for assignment by the Tribe last week after going 9-for-43 in 17 games this past year in Cleveland. He's unlikely to suddenly flourish up north.

Indians designated INF Luis Valbuena for assignment. Valbuena, 25, batted .209 (9-for-43) over 17 games with the Indians this season. He has struggled to match his gaudy minor league numbers on the major league level, but a club desperate for infield depth may make a claim.

Indians recalled INF Luis Valbuena from Triple-A Columbus. He'll take the place of the injured Jason Kipnis (hamstring) on the active roster. Valbuena, 25, is 3-for-22 (.167) with the Indians this season. He will share playing time with Jason Donald at second base, though neither are ideal fantasy options.
