Ortiz (illness) has been cleared to start Tuesday for Double-A Biloxi.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz had been running a fever over the weekend, which prompted Biloxi to scratch him from his scheduled turn Sunday. After a couple days off to recover, it sounds like the right-hander is feeling healthy again, so the illness isn't something that should hinder him the rest of the way. Ortiz has compiled a 3.57 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 72:31 K:BB over 80.2 innings in the Southern League this season.

Ortiz was scratched from his start with Double-A Biloxi due to a fever, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz had been red hot as of late, so it's a shame to see him have to miss a start now. However, it doesn't appear to be something that should keep him out very long, so he should just be considered day-to-day for the time being.

Over his last two starts, Ortiz allowed one earned run and posted a 13:0 K:BB over 13 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz owned a 4.12 ERA and 1.27 WHIP as recently as July 13, but thanks to his last two outings, he now sits with a 3.57 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 17 starts this season. He remains one of the top starting pitching prospects in the Brewers organization.

Ortiz (hamstring) returned from the disabled list Monday and tossed 3.2 innings in a game with Double-A Biloxi.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz missed nearly three weeks due to his injury, but he was able to get back on the mound Monday and throw 60 pitches. Ortiz owns a 3.14 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 54:24 K:BB over 12 starts with Biloxi this season.

Ortiz was placed on the minor-league disabled list with a hamstring injury.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear when the issue cropped up on Ortiz or how serious it is at this point, but he was forced to miss a little time earlier in the season due to a hamstring injury. Ortiz, one of the Brewers' top prospects, has compiled a 3.02 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through 11 starts (53.2 innings) with Double-A Biloxi this season. An update regarding his condition should become available as the Brewers release more on his status.

Ortiz (hamstring) threw five innings for Double-A Biloxi on Saturday, giving up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out six en route to the victory.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz had been sidelined since late April due to a bout of hamstring tightness, but he was back to his old self Saturday evening, displaying good control and strikeout potential. His ERA now sits at 3.33, and he'll look to improve further over the course of the season in the Shuckers' rotation.

Ortiz left Tuesday's game due to hamstring tightness and is being considered day-to-day, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz made it through 5.1 innings in Double-A Biloxi's loss, allowing just one run on three hits before heading off the field. The 21-year-old right-hander is considered one of the top young arms in the organization, so hopefully he won't be sidelined for too long. Ortiz has gotten off to a strong start in 2017, posting a 3.72 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 20:5 K:BB over four starts this season.

Ortiz exited Tuesday's game with Double-A Biloxi after 5.1 innings with an undisclosed injury.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers will be holding their breath as they await details regarding Ortiz's early departure. The 21-year-old, who is one of the top prospects within the Brewers' talented farm system, is coming off of a 2016 campaign in which he posted a 1.93 ERA (4.35 FIP) over 23.1 innings with Double-A Biloxi. An update on his condition should become available in the near future.

The Rangers have agreed to trade Ortiz to the Brewers as part of the package for Jonathan Lucroy and Jeremy Jeffress, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While the Brewers didn't get Joey Gallo in the trade, they were able to pry two of the Rangers' top four prospects, as Lewis Brinson is also headed to Milwaukee. Ortiz dominated at High-A High Desert to begin the year, earning a promotion to Double-A Frisco as a 20-year-old. He's shown incredible control of his fastball, slider and changeup in recent seasons, so he would seem to have the floor of a high-leverage reliever, with frontline starter upside.

Ortiz, 20, has a 3.74 ERA and 28:7 K:BB through 33.2 innings since being promoted to Double-A.
EDGE Analysis
Ortiz has shown superb control, though he has been slightly more hittable at this level than he was at High-A. Opposing batters are hitting .288 against him at Double-A, as opposed to .221 through 27.2 innings at High-A to begin the season. Nevertheless, he will not turn 21 years of age until after the season, so his future remains bright.
