Gilbert started Thursday's Cactus League split-squad loss to the Giants, firing two scoreless innings during which he allowed a hit and recorded a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The Mariners' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2019 was outstanding over his 29-pitch outing, with the only hit he allowed a mere infield single. Greg Johns of MLB.com reports that Gilbert hit the mid-90s with his fastball during his pair of frames and also complemented the power pitches with plenty of off-speed offerings that included a low 80s slider and low 70s curveball. The towering right-hander's four-pitch arsenal was key to his success last season, and after already ascending to Double-A Arkansas during his first professional campaign, it wouldn't be out of the question for a rebuilding Seattle squad to call him up at some point during 2020.

Gilbert threw the first big-league bullpen session of his career Friday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports. "Logan's obviously got a good arm and good stuff," manager Scott Servais said. "How his body works, he's got big-time extension down the mound. That's what sticks out immediately. There is going to be deception."
EDGE Analysis
The towering right-hander made three stops in the organizational ladder during his first season of professional ball in 2019, finishing the year at Double-Arkansas. Gilbert compiled a 4-2 record, 2.88 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 50 innings with the Travelers, following a pair of sub-2.00 ERA tallies at Low-A West Virginia and High-A Modesto to open the campaign. Gilbert projects to start 2020 back in Arkansas, but given his rapid ascension through the ranks last season and impressive four-pitch arsenal, it would hardly be surprising to see him toeing the rubber for Triple-A Tacoma before too long.

Gilbert reached his innings limit for 2019 and will be shut down rather than pitching in the Texas League playoffs, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert reached his innings limit of 135 innings after his last start, but the Mariners still planned to let him pitch in the playoffs. He struggled in that start and the subsequent bullpen session, causing the organization go with the original plan. The 22-year-old was promoted to Double-A in mid-July and had a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 56:25 K:BB over 50 innings with Arkansas.

Gilbert was promoted from High-A Modesto to Double-A Arkansas on Monday, Modesto radio broadcaster Keaton Gillogly reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert will be joined in Arkansas by two of the Mariners' other more highly regarded prospects in right-hander Ljay Newsome and catcher Cal Raleigh. The 22-year-old Gilbert, who began the season in the South Atlantic League before making the jump to High-A, turned in a 1.73 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over his 12 starts with Modesto.

Gilbert was promoted from Low-A West Virginia to High-A Modesto on Wednesday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert, the 14th overall pick in the 2018 first-year player draft, earned the promotion after dominating at Low-A, posting a 1.83 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 30:5 K:BB through four starts (19.2 innings) with West Virginia. The soon-to-be 22-year-old will look to keep things rolling as he faces a tougher challenge with Modesto.

Gilbert (illness) is starting for Low-A West Virginia on Thursday, Jason Churchill of Prospect Insider reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert will get the ball on Opening Day for the Power. The 21-year-old was drafted by the Mariners with the 14th pick in the 2018 first-year plater draft, though an illness kept him from making his professional debut until this season.
