Hendriks struck out three over 1.2 perfect innings to record his seventh save of the season in Friday's 5-3 win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
He continues to give Blake Treinen no openings to reclaim the closer job in Oakland, not that Treinen is pitching well enough right now to be much of a threat. Hendriks has yet to blow a save since taking over in the ninth inning and he hasn't even given up a run since June 5, leading to a dazzling 1.17 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 68:17 K:BB through 53.2 innings on the year.

Hendriks (4-0) picked up the win Sunday against the White Sox after striking out one over one inning.
EDGE Analysis
Hendriks has been nearly untouchable of late, surrendering just one run while striking out 31 over 21.1 innings since the beginning of June. He's also emerged as the Athletics' top option in save situations, racking up six saves over his last 10 appearances. The 30-year-old owns a sparkling 1.21 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 65 strikeouts over 52 frames this season.

Hendriks recorded a strikeout to close out Friday's 5-1 win over the White Sox, earning his sixth save of the year.
EDGE Analysis
Reliever Joakim Soria was unable to work out of a ninth-inning mess, but Hendriks entered the contest and whiffed Yoan Moncada to secure the save. The 30-year-old is up to 64 strikeouts in 51 innings this season. His continued success is likely to keep him in the closer role while Blake Treinen is forced into set-up duties for the time being.

Hendriks picked up the save against Seattle on Sunday, pitching one inning and allowing one hit while striking out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
The All-Star closer continued his dominant season, allowing a two-out single but nothing more to pick up his fifth save. Despite initial indications that he would return to a setup role with the return of Blake Treinen from the IL, Hendriks has been handed the ball in each of the last two save situations. He may have simply earned the position over Treinen by compiling a streak of 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings, during which he has posted an eye-popping 28:2 K:BB.

Hendriks pitched a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his fourth save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Hendriks struck out two in the appearance. He hasn't allowed a run over his last 15.2 innings, striking out 27 in that span, which dates back to June 6. Hendriks has the faith of manager Bob Melvin even with Blake Treinen's recent return from the IL. With a 1.27 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 49.2 innings this year, Hendriks has elevated his game to a level never seen before in his nine-year career.

Hendriks will remain the closer for the A's for the time being, even with Blake Treinen back from the IL, Susan Slusser of The San Francisco Chronicle reports. "At this point, Liam deserves to be there right now," manager Bob Melvin said.
EDGE Analysis
This runs counter to the A's initial assertion, but it's not a surprise following Hendriks' continued strong work and Treinen's rough outing after returning from the IL.

Hendriks, who filled in as the closer while Blake Treinen (shoulder) was on the injured list, is expected to progressively revert to his previous role as a result of the latter's activation Wednesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander secured American League Reliever of the Month honors for his work in June, during which he secured two saves and six holds while also picking up his third victory. Hendriks also notched his third save Tuesday against the Cardinals, but that could well be his last opportunity for some time. Manager Bob Melvin stated prior to Wednesday's game that he planned to use Treinen in a low-leverage scenario in his first appearance back and then return him to his usual closing role moving forward, although that plan was quickly discarded when the Twins pushed the Athletics to extra innings. Hendriks worked a pair of scoreless frames Wednesday and recorded two strikeouts to preserve a 3-3 tie, while Treinen ultimately came on in the 12th inning and allowed the go-ahead RBI single that would prove to be the difference in the contest. Despite the stumble, Melvin is likely to adhere to his original statement for the foreseeable future, leaving Hendriks to primarily serve as a setup option.

Hendriks gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his third save of the season in an 8-6 win over the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever continues to get the job done while Blake Treinen (shoulder) is on the shelf, although Treinen is on track to rejoin the A's bullpen Wednesday. Hendriks now boasts a 1.35 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 58:17 K:BB through 46.2 innings on the year, with three wins and seven holds in 39 appearances to go along with his saves.

Hendriks had one strikeout and allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to secure the save Wednesday at St. Louis.
EDGE Analysis
Hendriks gave up a one-out double to Marcell Ozuna but quickly recorded the final two outs to close out the game. The 30-year-old has a 1.42 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 54:17 K:BB through 44.1 innings and will continue to serve as Oakland's closer while Blake Treinen (shoulder) remains sidelined.

Hendriks is expected to fill the Athletics' closer role while Blake Treinen is sidelined with a strained rotator cuff, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hendriks picked up his first save of the season Saturday against the Rays, striking out a pair in a scoreless ninth inning. The 30-year-old's career 4.42 ERA over nine seasons is hardly closer material, but he's been excellent this season, posting a 1.49 ERA and a 29.8 percent strikeout rate. It's not clear how long Treinen will be sidelined.
