Stoudt (0-1) took the loss Wednesday in his big-league debut, getting tagged for seven runs on nine hits and a walk over four innings while striking out three as the Reds were routed 8-0 by the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old righty served up a solo shot to Yandy Diaz on the third pitch he threw, and things went downhill from there as Tampa Bay pushed six runs across the plate before the first inning was done. Stoudt stuck around for a few more frames, tossing 84 pitches (56 strikes) before exiting, but it was still a rude welcome to the majors. With Luke Weaver (forearm) set to make his season debut Thursday and Hunter Greene unlikely to miss his turn in the rotation after taking a comebacker off his leg Monday, Stoudt will probably be bounced back to Triple-A Louisville after this start.

The Reds recalled Stoudt from their taxi squad ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday versus the Rays in Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Reliever Casey Legumina was optioned to Triple-A to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster for the 25-year-old Stoudt, who will be making his big-league debut. Stoudt owns a 4.09 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB over 11 innings across his three starts with Louisville this season and isn't a highly regarded prospect, so he'll be tough to depend on as a streaming option while he pitches in a hitter-friendly park versus the 15-3 Rays. Though Stoudt is expected to be in line for just one start, an unexpectedly strong showing versus the Rays could allow him to stick in the rotation over Luis Cessa, who was walloped for 11 earned runs in his most recent start and could be at risk of a demotion to the bullpen.

Stoudt is scheduled to make his MLB debut in a start Wednesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Luke Weaver (forearm) was supposed to come off the IL and work that game, but he's apparently not ready to do so. Stoudt, 25, holds a career minor-league ERA of 4.11 and has issued nine walks in 11 innings (three starts) this season at Triple-A Louisville. He's an unappealing fantasy streaming option for Wednesday's emergency assignment versus Tampa Bay.

Stoudt was reassigned to minor-league spring training Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Stoudt was in the mix for the fifth spot in the Mariners' starting rotation during camp, but he failed to land a big-league roster spot after he gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one in 2.1 innings during his lone Cactus League appearance. The 24-year-old made three starts at Double-A Arkansas last year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him advance at some point in 2022.

Stoudt is a candidate for the Mariners' currently vacant No. 5 spot in the rotation, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stoudt's main competition appears to be Matt Brash and George Kirby, two fellow prospects with no shortage of talent or pedigree. Stoudt built up more extensively than Kirby last season in the minors, but his 81.2 innings in 2021 check in just behind Brash's 97.1. Stoudt, who has just one season of professional experience under his belt, held his own during his first Cactus League start against the Dodgers on Saturday, throwing 55 pitches over 2.1 innings while facing regulars Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger and Chris Taylor.

Stoudt made his debut Sunday for Double-A Arkansas, striking out six over seven innings while allowing one run on five hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Stoudt became the latest Mariners starting pitching prospect to make the jump to Double-A, following in the footsteps of George Kirby and Emerson Hancock. He received the bump up to the next level after compiling a 3.52 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 9.4 K/9 across 64 innings with Everett.
