Kyle Waldrop will be temporarily shut down due to right elbow inflammation. It's too bad, as Waldrop put has himself in a good position to make the Twins' bullpen this spring by allowing just one run over six innings while striking out three and walking none. The timeline for his return is not yet known.

Twins recalled RHP Kyle Waldrop from Triple-A Rochester. The 2004 first-round pick went 5-5 with a 3.87 ERA in 56 relief appearances in the minors this year. He has a 3.63 career ERA and 1.28 WHIP over seven minor league seasons in the Twins organization. It's been several years since he was viewed as one of the Twins' top pitching prospects, but Waldrop has the next three weeks to show that he deserves a look in spring training next year.
