Schwarber is on the bench Sunday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Schwarber hasn't been completely protected against lefties, starting against two of the five the Cubs have faced this season, but he'll get the day off Sunday against southpaw Robbie Ray. Kris Bryant moves out to left field, with David Bote starting at third base.

Schwarber isn't in Tuesday's lineup against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs have inserted David Bote into the lineup at third base in each of the previous two games, allowing for Kris Bryant to shift to left field and leaving Schwarber out of the starting nine. He's been scuffling at the dish of late, collecting just one hit while striking out 10 times over his last 16 at-bats.

Schwarber is not in the lineup Monday against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Schwarber sits for the third time this season and the first time against a right-hander (Trevor Richards). Kris Bryant slides out to left field, with David Bote entering the lineup at third base.

Schwarber went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 10-0 victory against the Pirates on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
While this was a feel-good day for just about everybody on the Cubs -- following a rough first 10 days of the season -- only four of Chicago's 10 runs were earned. Two of them came on Schwarber's homer in the fourth, which ended the scoring for the day. The home run was Schwarber's first extra base hit this month. He is batting .250 with three home runs, six RBI and seven runs in 10 games this season.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon indicated that he could move away from a platoon in left field and play Schwarber there more regularly, Gordon Wittemyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Four games into the season, Schwarber has been out of the starting lineup both times the Cubs have squared off against lefty starting pitchers. However, Maddon said he likes what he's seen recently from Schwarber when he's faced a southpaw. "He's showing a better way to not give in to the lefty," Maddon said. "His whole stance and everything he's doing is different. So I'm curious to see how this plays out." Schwarber's OPS last season was more than 200 points lower when facing lefties, and the Cubs often sat him against southpaws as a result. It would be a positive development to his overall fantasy outlook if he improves against lefties and earns more playing time.

Schwarber is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
With southpaw Sean Newcomb twirling for the Braves, manager Joe Maddon will go with another right-handed bat in the outfield in Mark Zagunis, relegating Schwarber to the bench. Schwarber had started each of the Cubs' first three games of the season, going 5-for-12 with a pair of home runs and three RBI.

Schwarber went 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in Saturday's 8-6 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
His fifth-inning solo shot off Jeanmar Gomez was his first homer of 2019, and he chipped in an RBI single in the first as well. Schwarber slugged 56 total homers in 2017 and 2018, so there's no doubting his power, but so far in his big-league career he hasn't been able to make enough contact to put together a breakout campaign.

Schwarber will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth in Saturday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Schwarber did not start in Thursday's season opener with lefty Mike Minor on the mound for Texas, though he did enter the game as a pinch hitter and record three at-bats. The slugger should find himself in the middle of the Cubs' order most days, which is the case Saturday.

Schwarber is not in the Opening Day lineup against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
The strict platoon is in effect on Opening Day, with Schwarber taking a seat against lefty Mike Minor and Mark Zagunis getting the start in left field. When the Cubs play in a National League park the expectation is that David Bote will get the starts against lefties while Ben Zobrist starts in the outfield.

Schwarber went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's exhibition game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Schwarber ended spring training with his first home run along with a strong .311 batting average across 45 at-bats. The 26-year-old should have no problem supplying power this season, though his strikeout rate has hampered his overall numbers since making his MLB debut in 2015. Schwarber did cut down on the whiffs from 2017 to 2018 and his batting average and OPS both went up, so perhaps he can take another step forward in 2019.
