The Dodgers are expected to recall Hurt from Triple-A Oklahoma City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not clear whether Hurt will be used as a starter or reliever. He made the Opening Day roster as a member of the bullpen, but the 25-year-old has mostly been a starter in the minors, including this year with Oklahoma City where he's allowed three runs with an 8:4 K:BB over four innings.

Hurt was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hurt opened the 2024 campaign on the major-league roster, appearing in two contests prior to being sent down Sunday. The right hander allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out three batters over 4.2 innings, and he'll likely earn another shot with the Dodgers relatively soon. In a corresponding move, Nabil Crismatt will replace Hurt in the team's bullpen for the time being.

Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Hurt has a "very good possibility" of being a relief option for the Dodgers during the season-opening series against the Padres in South Korea, which begins Wednesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old has prepped as a starter during spring training and is still viewed as one long term, but he could help Los Angeles in relief to begin the season. Hurt's inclusion on the roster for South Korea doesn't necessarily mean he'll retain that spot once the Dodgers return stateside, but it could give him a chance to show why he should stick in the majors.

The Dodgers optioned Hurt to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hurt made an impressive showing during his MLB debut Tuesday, sitting down Fernando Tatis, Juan Soto and Manny Machado during the first of his two innings of work. However, the return of Joe Kelly (forearm) will send Hurt back to Triple-A. Hurt might still have a chance to return before the end of the season if the Dodgers need another fresh bullpen arm.

Hurt tossed two scoreless innings against the Padres on Tuesday, retiring all six batters he faced, including three by strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers were up 9-2 when Hurt entered in the eighth inning, so his outing can't be characterized as high-leverage. However, that doesn't diminish the right-hander's effectiveness -- threw 19 of 24 pitches for strikes overall and struck out the side in the ninth inning. His work in the eighth frame may have been even more impressive, as Hurt began his big-league career by making easy work of the heart of San Diego's lineup, including Fernando Tatis, Juan Soto and Manny Machado. The 25-year-old showed plenty of punchout prowess in fanning 145 batters over 88.1 innings in the minors this season, and he could bring a late-season boost to the Dodgers' bullpen if he can build upon Tuesday's eye-opening debut.
