Gibson (groin) is expected to be activated off the injured list following the Colorado series which ends Thursday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The righty gave no indication that he was hurt in his six-inning, one-run outing Friday against the Astros, so it's not entirely clear whether he suffered the injury during the game. Gibson has logged a ton of innings this season, going at least six innings in all but one of his 10 starts. Pitchers Demarcus Evans and Wes Benjamin were recalled Tuesday to fill the spots of Gibson and Hunter Wood (elbow), who also went to the injured list.

Gibson yielded one run on four hits and two walks over six innings in Friday's win over Houston. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Aside from an Aledmys Diaz RBI groundout in the second inning, Gibson kept the Astros pretty quiet Friday. He would've improved to 4-0 if the Rangers' bullpen didn't meltdown in the eighth and allow Houston to force extras. Still, he lowered his season ERA to a terrific 2.24 with a 48:19 K:BB through 60.1 innings. Gibson is projected to face Seattle on the road next week.

The 33-year-old Gibson has been on quite a roll lately with eight straight quality starts, but he's only earned the win in three of them. The right-hander has a 2.32 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 44:17 K:BB across 54.1 innings. His next start is expected to be during next weekend's home series versus Houston.

The only damage against Gibson came on a fourth-inning solo homer by Brandon Belt. After his horrid first outing of the season, the 32-year-old has turned in seven consecutive quality starts, lowering his season to 2.28 in the process. He's lined up to take the mound in Houston this weekend.

Gibson didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Twins. He gave up three runs on three hits and two walks while fanning eight across eight innings.

EDGE Analysis

Gibson gave up five runs and couldn't get out of the first inning in his season debut, but he has looked dominant since then -- he has allowed just six earned runs across his last 41 innings, good for a blistering 1.32 ERA in that span. The veteran right-hander will try to extend his dominant stretch of form when he takes the ball next week on the road against the Giants.

Gibson (3-0) won Thursday's 4-1 contest against Boston, going six innings and allowing one run on three hits and three walks with four punch outs.

EDGE Analysis

Gibson was able to stay out of trouble yet again as the only real damage came on a sixth-inning Rafael Devers RBI double. After a disastrous first outing, Gibson has allowed only three runs in 33 innings across his five ensuing starts.

Gibson had a woeful start to the season since he couldn't escape the first inning in Opening Day, but he has bounced back admirably and hasn't allowed more than one earned run in each of his subsequent four starts -- with three scoreless outings in that stretch. He's on a run of four straight quality starts and is slated to take the ball next week during a four-game series against the Red Sox.

Gibson allowed only four hits over eight shutout innings and struck out six in a no-decision versus the Orioles on Sunday.

Gibson has allowed just two runs (one earned) over his last 21 innings spanning three starts. Unfortunately for Gibson, the Rangers' bats couldn't muster any runs off Orioles starter John Means. The 33-year-old Gibson has a 2.53 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB across 21.1 innings this season, but he's been difficult to hit outside of a rough season opener. The right-hander is scheduled to make his next start Saturday versus the White Sox.

Gibson (2-0) earned the win Tuesday after holding the Rays to a pair of runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out three across seven innings.

EDGE Analysis

Following an abysmal first start to the season, Gibson has looked sharp over his last two outings, including a solid performance against the Rays. After the 33-year-old plunked a batter in the first inning, he followed suit by allowing an RBI double to Joey Wendle. A fielding error by Nick Solak allowed one more (unearned) run to score, but that would be the last blemish of the night under Gibson's watch. It was relatively smooth sailing the rest of the way for the right-hander, who has now allowed one earned run over his last 13 innings. He'll look to keep things rolling at home Sunday against the Orioles.
