The Mets and Rocker have reached a stalemate in negotiations on a contract and may not agree to a deal prior to Sunday's 5 p.m. ET deadline to complete deals with draft picks, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Before Rocker headed to New York last week to undergo a physical, he had agreed in principle to a deal that included a $6 million signing bonus. The Mets may now be looking to sign Rocker for a smaller bonus, however, after the team expressed concerns about his elbow following the exam. Rocker's camp has disagreed with the Mets' assessment of his health, setting up a potential standoff that could result in the No. 10 overall pick going unsigned. If that's the case, Rocker would have the option of returning to Vanderbilt for his senior season before re-entering the 2022 first-year player draft.
