Negron will join the Cubs at spring training as a non-roster invitee.
EDGE Analysis
After a promising stint with the Reds in 2014 in which Negron batted .271/.331/.479 wth six home runs and 17 RBI, the 29-year-old fell flat in 2015 and eventually was sent down to Triple-A Louisville. His season ended early due to a shoulder injury, but he should be ready for the start of spring training. Negron's versatility to play both infield and outfield makes him a bit more intriguing for teams looking for depth off the bench, but it still seems a long shot that he will crack the big league roster out of spring training.

Negron (shoulder) signed a minor league deal with the Cubs on Friday, Baseball America's Matt Eddy reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old utility infielder goes from a perfect situation to get MLB at-bats in Cincinnati to perhaps the most loaded organization in baseball, so he could spend all of 2016 at Triple-A. He has a .220 average, six home runs and seven steals in 270 career big league plate appearances.

Negron (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day DL on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Negron suffered a torn labrum earlier this month that required season-ending surgery, but because of the expanded roster, the Reds didn't need to make a DL move. However, after putting in a waiver claim on Tyler Holt, the Reds will now move Negron to the 60-day DL in order to clear up a 40-man roster spot. Negron should be good to go by the time spring training rolls around.

Negron (shoulder) will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn labrum and fractured scapula in his left shoulder that will result in surgery, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Negron made a nice play when the injury occurred, but it will unfortunately cost him the remainder of his 2015 campaign after just one game back with the Reds. Assuming all goes well in with the procedure and recovery, he should be good to go for the beginning of 2016 spring training.

Negron was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old has split the season between the Reds and Triple-A, and he's failed to impress at both levels. In 59 games for Louisville, he's hitting just .216, and in 42 contests for the Reds (92 at-bats), Negron holds a paltry .141 average with 23 strikeouts and two extra-base hits. He'll serve as utility infield depth over the final few weeks of the season.

Negron was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Negron is the odd man out following the return of Aroldis Chapman from the paternity list. He'll now provide organizational depth in the infield, but would likely be the top recall option should an injury occur.

Negron is starting in left field Wednesday against the Phillies, replacing the injured Marlon Byrd. Left field could end up being a platoon between Negron and Skip Schumaker, with the newly called up Ivan DeJesus Jr. also factoring into the mix.

Negron is getting a spot start at shortstop in for Zack Cozart. Manager Bryan Price wanted to get Negron a game for this series against the Indians. There's nothing wrong with Cozart, only that Negron hasn't started since May 15 and hasn't played at all in the previous four games.

Negron has been inserted into the lineup in place of Zack Cozart for Monday's game against the Braves. Cozart is a late scratch due to soreness in his left wrist, so Negron will step in at shortstop, just as he did last week when Cozart missed three games.
