Chicago manager David Ross said Bryant is fully healthy and has looked good taking batting practice early in spring training, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Managers usually speak glowingly of their players this time of year, but it's at least good to hear that Bryant seems healthy. A variety of injuries limited him to just 34 of the team's 60 games last season, and the former MVP posted a career-worst .644 OPS. There's still plenty of talent in that bat, making Bryant a definite bounceback candidate in 2021 if he stays on the field.

Bryant is unlikely to be traded during spring training but could get moved before the trade deadline, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bryant and the Cubs agreed to terms on a one-year, $19.5 million deal in January, so his outlook in Chicago beyond 2021 is certainly unclear. With the organization already dealing Yu Darvish and moving on from Jon Lester and Jose Quintana, it's certainly possible that Bryant gets traded as part of a full-on rebuild. However, it seems like any potential deal won't come until sometime in the summer and could hinge on how the Cubs perform to start the season.

Bryant and the Cubs agreed to terms on a one-year, $19.5 million deal Friday, avoiding arbitration, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bryant gets an unusually small raise for a player who signed for $18.6 million last offseason, though it's hard to say he deserves anything more given the extent of his struggles in 2020. He hit just .206/.293/.351, well below the .284/.385/.516 line he managed over his first five seasons. Whether or not another team wants to trade for Bryant on that salary in hopes of a bounceback season in his final year of arbitration remains to be seen.

Bryant went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 10-8 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Bryant finishes the regular season with home runs in consecutive games, which lends some optimism that he can put a tough campaign behind him and have a productive postseason. The 28-year-old hit four home runs in 34 games during the shortened season to go along with a .644 OPS, which was easily the worst mark of his six-year MLB career.

Bryant went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and an additional run scored in Saturday's 9-5 loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
This has been a season to forget for Bryant; Saturday's homer was his third all year and he still has just a .619 OPS. He recently missed a stretch of time with oblique tightness and spent some time on the IL earlier this year with left finger and wrist soreness. The 28-year-old had a mere five RBI in 138 plate appearance coming into Saturday's game, and his struggles raise further questions about his future with the Cubs heading into his final year of arbitration eligibility.

Bryant (oblique) hit in the batting cage and took grounders on the field Friday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bryant hasn't played since leaving Monday's game with a tight right oblique. His expected return date remains unclear, but it doesn't look as though he'll miss too much more time, as he reportedly moved around well Friday.

Bryant (oblique) is not in the lineup Thursday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The 28-year-old hasn't seen the field since exiting Monday's game with right oblique tightness, and he's out of the lineup again Friday. The team has yet to provide a return timeline, but Bryant may not be able to return to action this weekend. Nico Hoerner receives the start at third base Friday in his place.

Bryant (oblique) is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
He has not played since leaving Monday's game with right oblique tightness. It's possible that Bryant won't be able to return during the regular season, although there has been no firm timeline from the team. David Bote will start at third base while Anthony Rizzo leads off.

Bryant (oblique) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Bryant left Monday's game with a right oblique issue, and he'll sit for a second consecutive contest Wednesday. He was reportedly feeling better Tuesday and isn't expected to head to the injured list. Since the Cubs clinched a playoff spot Tuesday, the team could certainly manage Bryant's workload ahead of the postseason. David Bote will serve as the third baseman Wednesday.
