Uehara exited Tuesday's game against the Giants with an apparent injury, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara came on in relief in the seventh inning but left the field with the team trainer after suffering an apparent injury after allowing a walk and a single to the first two batters he faced. We'll await word from the Cubs on the exact nature of his injury.

Uehara stuck out two in a clean ninth inning Sunday against St. Louis to pick up his second save of the year.
EDGE Analysis
Cubs' closer Wade Davis picked up saves on Friday and Saturday, so manager Joe Maddon decided to give him a rest Sunday. Uerhara's usage thus far puts him on track to log six saves and 21 holds while approaching 70 strikeouts -- numbers that can be useful for those in NL-only formats.

Uehara (1-3) was tagged with loss Wednesday against the Padres. He allowed an earned run on a walk and hit over one inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
On a day in which the Cubs scored just one run, the run given up by Uehara in the eighth inning turned out to be costly. The veteran still sports a solid 3.63 ERA and 1.10 WHIP, to go along with 20 strikeouts in 17.1 innings.

Uehara recorded his first save of the season in Thursday's win over the Reds. He pitched a scoreless inning with no hits allowed and two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Regular closer Wade Davis had appeared on Tuesday and Wednesday, so manager Joe Maddon turned to Uehara on Thursday to quiet a potential Cincinnati rally in the ninth inning. The veteran allowed an inherited runner to score on a sac fly, but he then struck out the next two hitters to end the game. Uehara likely won't pick up too many more saves this year, but he should be a decent source of holds with strong ratios.

Uehara (0-2) was tagged with the loss Sunday against the Red Sox. He gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) without recording an out.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever had been good lately, but his former team got to him in this one. Uehara has a 3.72 ERA, though all of the damage has been done in two bad outings. He's held the opposition off the board in his other 10 appearances.

Uehara recorded his second hold of the season in Tuesday's win over the Pirates. He pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara came on for Kyle Hendricks after he pitched six scoreless innings, and the veteran reliever kept the Pirates at bay. Other than a rough outing on April 16, when he allowed two earned runs without recording an out, Uehara has not been scored upon, and he carries a nifty 2.08 ERA.

Uehara (0-1) was tagged with a blown save and the loss in Sunday's game against the Pirates. He didn't record an out, and gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara hadn't allowed any runs prior to Sunday, but he just didn't have it in this one. The veteran started the eighth inning by walking the first batter he faced then giving up a double, and he gave way to Hector Rondon with the bases loaded. Consider this a hiccup, as Uehara should continue to serve in a high-leverage role for the Cubs.

Uehara said he wants to pitch two more years at the MLB level, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara, who will turn 42 in April, is entering his ninth MLB season. He said his goal is to get to 10 years in the majors, which would match the time he spent pitching professionally in Japan before he came to the U.S. No longer a closer, Uehara is still a solid reliever, as evidenced by his 0.96 WHIP and 63 strikeouts in 47 innings last season.

Uehara agreed to terms on a one-year, $6 million contract with the Cubs on Wednesday, ESPN.com's Jesse Rogers reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was suggested last week that Uehara had reached a one-year, $4.5 million contract with the Cubs, but he'll get more money that initially expected after several teams entered the derby for his services within the last few days. After posting a 3.45 ERA and 12.1 K/9 rate last season with the Red Sox, the 41-year-old should serve as one of the Cubs' key weapons against lefties. Despite being a right-hander, Uehara's repertoire has been historically tough against left-handed batters, who own a .183 career average against him.

Uehara signed a one-year, $4.5 million deal with the Cubs on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara ran into some troubles with the long ball in his final season in Boston, yielding 1.5 home runs per nine innings on the way to a 3.45 ERA, his worst season mark since his rookie year in 2009. Now 41 years old, Uehara has seen his velocity decline over the last few years and could be at the end of his tenure as an effective late-innings arm. He enters a deep Cubs bullpen with a clear closer in Wade Davis, so it's unlikely he gets a shot at a save anytime soon.
