While splitting time between the Blue Jays and Giants in 2019, Pillar posted a career-high .719 OPS to go with 21 home runs and 14 stolen bases, so he could have some appeal in mixed leagues if he ends up finding consistent playing time in a Red Sox lineup that still looks strong even with 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts no longer in the picture.

Pillar provided about as robust of a stat line as a player could without registering a hit. The 30-year-old has put together his most complete fantasy season (.259 with 21 homers, 88 RBI, 83 runs and 14 steals) despite moving from a neutral home ballpark in Toronto to cavernous Oracle Park. Pillar will look to finish the regular season on a high note against a pair of scheduled southpaws this weekend (.831 OPS versus lefties in 2019).

Pillar was productive early and often Wednesday, recording his RBI in the first inning prior to swiping his 12th base of the season two frames later. Though he has at least one hit in seven of his last eight starts, prior to Wednesday's big performance Pillar had managed only one RBI and three runs scored in that span. Pillar was moved up to third in the batting order for just the fifth time this season (all against southpaws). The 30-year-old is slashing a healthy .303/.331/.577 against southpaws this year, so it is a bit surprising that we are only seeing the outfielder in the heart of the order this late in the year. Manager Bruce Bochy's loyalty to his long-time veterans likely plays a role, but whatever the case, Pillar hitting higher in the order against left-handed starters will allow him to build on an already career-high 79 RBI.
