Kevin Newman Takes Seat Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 9/12/19 12:20 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kevin Newman is off for Thursday's series finale at the San Francisco Giants. Cole Tucker will play short and bat sixth, while second baseman Adam Frazier moves to Newman's usual leadoff spot. No one usually makes for a particularly good DFS hitting play at Oracle Park, and Tucker's rookie struggles make him a particularly poor option. Frazier is slightly better, but not by much with just nine home runs and four steals this season.

Kevin Newman Returns to the Lineup rotoballer.com Thu 9/5/19 6:54 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Kevin Newman (leg) is back in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins. He missed a few games due to a lingering leg issue, but appears to be fine now. Newman will bat leadoff and play shortstop versus righty Elieser Hernandez. He's a great DFS option for games on Thursday.

Kevin Newman Sitting Again Wednesday rotoballer.com Wed 9/4/19 4:06 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Kevin Newman (leg) will not be in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Miami Marlins. Newman has been experiencing leg tightness but is going to test out how he feels before the game and could be available for the Pirates off the bench. Erik Gonzalez has started at short in his absence but may take a seat in this matchup after the recent call-up of shortstop prospect Cole Tucker. Both players aren't worth much fantasy consideration.

He's been a regular starter for the team since early May and has been slotting in as a leadoff hitter multiple times per week. Kevin Newman is at Second on Saturday rotoballer.com Sat 8/17/19 12:30 PM

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Kevin Newman is in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Newman will bat leadoff and play second base versus lefty Jon Lester. Adam Frazier is normally at second base, but gets the day off against the left-handed starter. Newman has been average with the bat, but doesn't have great upside. He's in a favorable spot in the order, so he could be a cheap DFS option, but don't expect too much from him.

This week is as good a time as any to pause and reflect on the 2019 baseball season thus far.Fortunately, it's been a much less challenging year than last for yours truly.
