Kiermaier (groin) will start in center field and bat eighth in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against Atlanta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kiermaier was scratched from the Rays' spring lineup last Friday due to a sore left groin, but after resuming workouts without any major discomfort in the last few days, he'll be making his return to the starting nine less than a week after the injury first surfaced. The 31-year-old is expected to open the campaign as the Rays' primary center fielder, though he'll likely sit at least occasionally against left-handed starting pitchers.

Kiermaier (groin) is scheduled to take some swings Tuesday and said he expects to be ready to go for Opening Day, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The perennially banged-up Kiermaier is already hurting during spring training, as he's battled both neck and upper-back stiffness and most recently left groin soreness. Though the injuries have set him back in getting in his usual slate of at-bats during the spring, the veteran outfielder doesn't expect to require a trip to the injured list to begin the season. Ideally, he would return to action before the Rays' Grapefruit League and exhibition schedule comes to an end to assuage any concerns about his availability for Opening Day.

Kiermaier (groin) isn't starting Saturday's Grapefruit League game against Boston, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kiermaier was removed from Friday's lineup against Baltimore due to left groin soreness, and he'll remain out of the lineup a day later. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available off the bench Friday or whether he'll be able to return to action Sunday against Atlanta.

Kiermaier was scratched from the lineup for Friday's Grapefruit League game against Baltimore due to left groin soreness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
As long as the issue remains nothing worse than soreness, Kiermaier should still have time to get ready for Opening Day, though he's also battled a sore neck earlier in camp and underwent arthroscopic knee surgery over the offseason. It's possible the accumulation of minor problems sends him to the injured list. Josh Lowe will start in center field and would be a candidate to man the position on a regular basis if Kiermaier missing time, though Manuel Margot and Brett Phillips could also see their roles increase.

Kiermaier (knee/neck) will start in center field and bat sixth in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays have slow played Kiermaier's introduction to the spring lineup after he underwent arthroscopic right knee surgery in November. He was also bothered by a sore neck early in camp, but after a few encouraging workouts, he'll make his Grapefruit League debut Tuesday. While Tampa Bay would surely like to offload Kiermaier and his expiring six-year, $53.5 million contract, he'll tentatively head into Opening Day as the Rays' primary center fielder. Though Kiermaier's offense has fallen off considerably since he posted a career-best .788 OPS in 2017 and injuries remain a perennial concern, his elite defense should be enough for him to stick in a large-side platoon role when healthy.

EDGE Analysis
Kiermaier underwent right knee arthroscopic surgery in November and has been bothered by a sore neck early in camp. Neither issue sounds like a concern for Opening Day, but watch his progress.

Kiermaier underwent right knee arthroscopic surgery Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kiermaier's procedure addressed a small meniscus tear, but he's expected to resume full activities in 4-6 weeks. As a result, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 30-year-old back to full health in time for spring training in 2022.
