Ginkel (4-1) returned from a leg injury and picked up Tuesday's win over the Giants. He allowed two hits and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel made his first appearance since taking a comebacker off the leg Saturday. He was the first reliever up after starter Blake Walston -- 88 pitches, 47 strikes -- labored through 4.1 innings and left with Arizona leading. Pitching this early in games or getting more than three outs are not typically Ginkel's roles, but he had thrown just 14 pitches over the last five days and had the bullets to go a little longer than normal.

Ginkel's X-rays came back negative for his injured leg Saturday and he can be considered day-to-day, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel took a hard-hit comebacker to his left leg during Saturday's game against the Mets and was immediately removed from the contest. However, he seems to have avoided significant injury, and manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism that Ginkel could be ready as soon as Sunday. Ginkel owns a 4.09 ERA across 22.0 innings this season.

Ginkel was hit in the left leg by a comebacker during Saturday's game against the Mets and was removed from the game, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports. He threw one perfect inning before the incident.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel was the first arm out of the bullpen for the Diamondbacks on Saturday, replacing Slade Cecconi late in the fifth inning. The 30-year-old retired the first two batters he faced before getting hit by a 98 MPH comebacker from Brandon Nimmo, who was still thrown out at first. Bryce Jarvis replaced Ginkel on the mound.

Ginkel (2-1) was tagged with Sunday's 3-1 loss, giving up three unearned runs on three hits while striking out one over one inning to the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel deserved better, but the normally surehanded Kevin Newman had a throwing error that led to all of Miami's runs being unearned. It continues a rough stretch for Ginkel, the one-time closer, who has allowed nine runs (six earned) on 13 hits and two walks over last 6.1 innings. That stretch includes Sunday's loss and a pair of blown saves.

Ginkel allowed two runs on two hits and a walk over one inning, picking up a blown save in Monday's 6-5 win over Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel failed to hold an eighth-inning lead for a second consecutive appearance. He's allowed runs in three of the last four outings, all since he slid back from closer to a setup role.

Ginkel allowed one run on one hit over one inning and was charged with a blown save in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
With the Diamondbacks ahead 4-3, Ginkel entered to start the eighth inning and dispatched the first two batters with ease before Anthony Santander squared up a fastball outside the zone for a game-tying home run. It was the third blown save of the season for Ginkel, who was moved back to a setup role when Paul Sewald was activated off the injured list last week. Ginkel has a 3.31 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with four walks and 15 strikeouts over 16.1 innings.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Tuesday that Ginkel will go back to a setup role upon the return of Paul Sewald (oblique), Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lovullo wants to throw Sewald back into the closer role immediately, saying that if a save opportunity should arise Tuesday, it would go to Sewald. Ginkel filled in admirably as the temporary closer, going 5-for-7 in save chances while posting a 2.57 ERA and 14:3 K:BB over 14 innings. Certainly, it's a major hit to his fantasy value as he shifts back to being a setup man.

Ginkel pitched a perfect ninth in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Mariners to earn his fifth save of the year. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel made quick work of the Mariners' hitters, needing only nine pitches to get three outs. He began by striking out Jorge Polanco and got the next two batters out on weak contact to shut the door. Ginkel has stepped up well in the closer role with Paul Sewald (oblique) on the mend, posting a 3.00 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 12 innings. Sewald recently suffered a minor setback in his recovery, meaning Ginkel will have the closer job for a little while longer.

Ginkel earned a save after he pitched one inning, allowing one run on two hits while striking out a batter in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel was tasked with protecting a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving up a run on a pair of doubles before striking out Mike Yastrzemski to end the game. The 30-year-old has now converted four out of six save opportunities this season while operating as the team's primary closer with Paul Sewald (oblique) on the shelf. Ginkel sports a 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 11 strikeouts over 10.1 innings in 10 appearances this year.

Ginkel allowed a run on two hits in one inning Monday. He struck out one batter and blew a save chance during the loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Ginkel was tasked with closing out a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning but couldn't finish things off. He eventually let the tying run score on a wild pitch and the Cubs would go on to win in 11 innings. The 30-year-old had converted three straight saves since blowing his first opportunity of the year April 5. Ginkel owns a 3.24 ERA with a 10:2 K:BB through 8.1 innings.
