The Twins are hopeful that Maeda (triceps) will be cleared to throw off the mound by the end of the week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda was placed on the 15-day injured list April 29 due to a right triceps strain, and while he remains without a firm timetable for a return, this latest update is positive news. The team will likely ask him to complete a few side sessions before beginning a rehab assignment.

Maeda was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right triceps strain.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda suffered the injury on his last turn through the Twins' rotation Wednesday versus the Yankees. There's no exact timetable yet, but this type of injury will often cost pitchers several weeks. Bailey Ober is up from Triple-A St. Paul and getting the start Saturday versus the Royals.

Maeda will be shut down for 3-7 days after being diagnosed with a right triceps strain, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda suffered the injury during Wednesday's start against the Yankees and will be placed on the injured list. The positive news is the arm issue is unrelated to his previous Tommy John surgery and will be treated as a muscle strain. Still, it has the potential to keep him sidelined several weeks. Bailey Ober is taking Maeda's spot in the Twins' rotation.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Thursday that Maeda (elbow) will likely be placed on the injured list, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
MRI results on Maeda's right elbow showed no structural damage but did reveal a muscle strain. Maeda described his injury as arm fatigue -- a common occurrence for pitchers coming back from Tommy John surgery. Either way, the 35-year-old righty will miss a couple starts and could potentially be replaced in the rotation by Bailey Ober or Josh Winder.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Wednesday that Maeda will undergo an MRI on his right elbow, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda's early exit Wednesday versus the Yankees was initially chalked up as a back issue, but Baldelli revealed in his postgame press conference that it was actually elbow soreness which prompted the departure. That soreness is on the "medial side ... not the side where you would normally be concerned," per Baldelli, but the skipper also added that Maeda will likely need "some time off" either way. The 35-year-old right-hander was charged with 10 earned runs over just three-plus innings before departing. He is 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA on the season.

Maeda left Wednesday's start against the Yankees in the fourth inning with an apparent back injury, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports. He was charged with 10 earned runs on 11 hits with two walks and two strikeouts before his exit.
EDGE Analysis
According to Park, Maeda first appeared to tweak his back when he unsuccessfully tried to field an Isiah Kiner-Falefa bunt single in the top of the second inning. Though Maeda remained in the game, he was clearly compromised, and the Yankees seemed to recognize it, as a few other hitters attempted to bunt off of him. The right-hander has now left back-to-back starts with injuries, as he exited after just two innings against the Red Sox last Thursday after being hit in the ankle by a comebacker. Though the ankle didn't seem to be bothering Maeda on Wednesday, his new injury could be something that prompts the Twins to skip his turn through the rotation and/or send him to the 15-day injured list.

Maeda (ankle) will make his start against the Yankees on Wednesday after throwing a successful bullpen session Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda left his start Thursday after being struck in the left ankle by a comebacker, but the right-hander has dealt with no issues since and will be back on the bump for the start against the Yankees without missing any time.

Maeda (ankle) is listed as the Twins' probable starter Wednesday against the Yankees, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander is still scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday, which should provide final confirmation for his ability to start Wednesday's contest. Maeda exited his previous start Thursday in Boston after being struck in the left ankle by a comebacker, but it doesn't appear the injury will force him to be pushed back in Minnesota's rotation.

Maeda (ankle) is expected to throw a bullpen session Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
After working just two innings in his most recent start Thursday against the Red Sox before exiting after being struck on the left ankle by a comebacker and suffering a bruise, Maeda was able to do some light throwing Saturday. Though the Twins haven't indicated that Maeda felt any renewed discomfort while throwing again, the upcoming bullpen session will provide a better gauge of his health. Based on how Maeda checks out coming out of the side session, the Twins will decide whether he needs to go on the 15-day injured list or if he'll be able to make his next turn through the rotation. Minnesota is adding Bailey Ober to the rotation for Sunday's game against the Nationals to give each of the other five starters an extra day of rest.

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that Maeda (ankle) could avoid spending time on the injured list, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Maeda's x-rays came back negative Thursday, and the veteran righty said he's feeling "better than expected" a day after taking a line drive to his left ankle. The Twins will keep an eye on Maeda's ankle for the next few days, but it sounds like Maeda might be able to make his next scheduled start.
