Vargas is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Vargas was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning of Monday's game, but stayed in and there's been nothing to suggest his absence Tuesday is related. Rather, it seems manager Ron Gardenhire just thinks the 24-year-old could use a mental break, following a 1-for-11 showing in his previous three starts. Trevor Plouffe will serve as the designated hitter as Eduardo Nunez steps in at the hot corner.

Vargas was 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the Twins' victory over Cleveland on Friday night. Vargas now has nine long ones and 37 RBI with a very encouraging .295 average as he makes a bid to lock in an everyday role for the 2015 Twins. A first baseman by trade, he would primarily DH while spelling Joe Mauer at first.

Vargas is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox, according to LaVelle Neal of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Vargas has started every game for the Twins since Aug. 1, but he will get a day off after going 0-for-12 in his last three games. Josmil Pinto will serve as the Twins' DH Sunday with Vargas on the bench.

Vargas went 2-for-5 with three RBI and his sixth home run of the season Wednesday in a win over the White Sox. Vargas' two-run shot was the first of his career from the right side of the plate. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound rookie has hit safely in all but five of his 32 big league games and is now slashing .319/.340/.511 with 31 RBI in 135 at-bats.

Vargas was productive Monday afternoon, going 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI against the Orioles. The rookie first baseman has been turning some heads since playing his first game back on August 1. Vargas owns a .317 average with 26 RBI and four home runs in just 126 Major League at-bats.

Vargas went 3-for-5 with a run scored in Sunday's loss to Detroit. Vargas has been tremendous since getting promoted to the big leagues, and has been especially hot over his last nine games. In that span, the slugger has gone 16-for-39 (.410) with two homers, six doubles, and 11 RBI. Vargas is slashing an excellent .337/.369/.537 on the year.

Vargas went 2-for-4 with five RBI in the Twins' win over the Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The Twins have been utilizing Vargas as a run producer since his promotion on August 1, and he's racked up 22 RBI in his first 21 big league games (according to the Associated Press, it's the highest total for a rookie in his first 21 games since Albert Pujols had 22 RBI in April of 2001).

Vargas was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo home run in the Twins' win over Cleveland Thursday afternoon. Vargas showed a ton of strength in driving the home run the opposite way. The young righty is hitting .316/.354/.513 in 76 at-bats this season.

Vargas was 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Royals. Vargas, who owns a .317/.364/.500 slash line since getting called up on July 31, belted his third home run of the season off Jeremy Guthrie in the fifth inning. Locked into a regular role and batting fourth in the order for the Twins, Vargas has quickly become a highly relevant fantasy factor.

Vargas went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's win over the Astros. The 24-year-old rookie raised his batting average to an even .300 with the two-hit performance.
