Keibert Ruiz In Two-Hole Against Twins rotoballer.com Fri 4/21/23 4:09 PM
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz is starting behind the dish and is hitting out of the No. 2 spot in the batting order on Friday against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Tyler Mahle. With Ruiz at No. 2, first baseman Dominic Smith will be dropped to the sixth spot in the order. Ruiz hasn't done anything special with the bat yet in 16 games, going 16-for-61 (.262) with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and two runs scored, but he'll have slightly more DFS upside on Friday in the...
Nationals To Sign Keibert Ruiz To Eight-Year Extension rotoballer.com Sat 3/11/23 12:13 AM
The Washington Nationals will announce an eight-year, $50 million extension with catcher Keibert Ruiz on Saturday, according to a source familiar with the terms. Ruiz was under club control for five more seasons, so this extension buys out those years, plus three years of free agency, keeping him in D.C. through at least 2030. He becomes the first players in Nationals history to agree to a long deal before reaching arbitration. Ruiz was a centerpiece of the trade that sent Max Scherzer and ...

Keibert Ruiz Likely Shut Down For Season rotoballer.com Fri 9/9/22 6:26 PM
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz (groin) will be shut down for three weeks, which in all likelihood ends his season. Ruiz was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier in the day, and manager Dave Martinez has since said that Ruiz will meet the team in Philadelphia, but will be shut down. The move certainly isn't ideal for Ruiz's fantasy owners, as Riley Adams and Tres Barrera, who will split time at the position in Ruiz's absence, aren't exactly sought-after assets.
Keibert Ruiz Lands On Injured List rotoballer.com Fri 9/9/22 4:30 PM
The Washington Nationals placed catcher Keibert Ruiz (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a testicular contusion. In corresponding moves, the team designated pitcher Jake McGee for assignment, purchases the contract of Israel Pineda from Triple-A and recalled Jordan Weems from Triple-A. Ruiz took a foul ball off his groin on Thursday and was sent to the hospital with swollen testicles. We wish him the best, but there's a chance he won't return to the last-place Nats before the ...

Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz (groin) was sent to the hospital on Thursday after leaving the game early against the St. Louis Cardinals with swollen testicles after getting hit with a foul ball. Ruiz initially remained in the game and went 1-for-3 at the plate, but he eventually departed the contest in the sixth inning. The Nationals are waiting for the 24-year-old before leaving town, but it remains to be seen if he'll have to miss any additional time heading into a weekend series ...
Keibert Ruiz Reaches Five Times, Steals A Base rotoballer.com Sat 8/20/22 12:40 PM
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz reached base five times Friday, going 2-for-2 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI and one run scored. He also stole a base, his sixth of the year in seven attempts. Ruiz has only managed a .665 OPS in 381 plate appearances this season, but he has shown the potential to reach double digits in both the power and speed categories. In a shallow catcher pool, this makes him a fantasy option, regardless of his meager offensive statistics, and there's every...
Keibert Ruiz Back In The Lineup rotoballer.com Wed 8/17/22 11:34 AM
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz (head, knee) is back behind the plate and is hitting fifth on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Drew Smyly. Ruiz was beat up behind the dish in the game on Monday and was given Tuesday off, but he's back in there on Wednesday. He also came off the bench on Tuesday to go 1-for-2 with a walk, so he's fine. The 24-year-old backstop is hitting a modest .244/.305/.351 with six home runs, 30 RBI, 26 runs scored and five stolen bases in 368 ...

Keibert Ruiz Absent From The Lineup On Saturday rotoballer.com Sat 6/11/22 1:42 PM
Washington Nationals catcher Keibert Ruiz is sitting out on Saturday vs. the Milwaukee Brewers. This looks like a routine day off for the 23-year-old catcher, who's batting .265/.332/.367 with two home runs, 14 RBI, and three stolen bases on the season. Riley Adams is taking over behind the plate and batting seventh against left-hander Eric Lauer.
