Steele (6-0) allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
By his lofty standards in 2023, this was somewhat of a disappointing effort. That said, Steele turned in his seventh quality start in eight outings, and he remains undefeated on the season, though he can thank his offense for strong run support in Wednesday's contest. The southpaw has a 1.82 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 39:14 K:BB through 49.1 innings over eight starts. He's projected for a tough road start in Houston next week.

Steele (5-0) picked up the win in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Marlins, allowing one run on six hits over seven innings. He struck out four without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw was sharp once again, tossing 64 of 86 pitches for strikes and shutting out Miami through five innings. Steele's ability to limit homers has been his strongest asset so far in 2023 -- he's kept the ball in the yard in six of his seven starts. The 27-year-old will take a 1.45 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB through 43.1 innings into his next outing, likely to come at home next week against the Cardinals.

Steele did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk over six innings in a 4-3 loss against the Marlins. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Steele is off to an excellent start this season, recording quality starts in five out of his six outings, and has yet to allow more than two earned runs in a start. The 27-year-old left-hander is 4-0 with a 1.49 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 32:11 K:BB. Steele has excelled at limiting hard contact while inducing a 56% ground ball rate. He's tentatively lined up to face the Marlins again at home in his next outing.

Steele (4-0) earned the win Tuesday, allowing zero runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against San Diego. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Steele was excellent once again against the Padres on Tuesday, and the southpaw threw 59-of-98 pitches for strikes. None of the hits he allowed in the contest went for extra bases, and he's now gone gone five starts in a row to begin 2022 without allowing more than two runs; with three of those outings seeing him give up no more than a single score. Steele will take a sensational 1.19 ERA to the test over the weekend in a scheduled start against the Marlins.

Steele (3-0) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits across six innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Athletics. He walked two and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Steele got plenty of run support as the Cubs scored 12 runs, and that was more than enough for the lefty, who now has a dazzling 1.44 ERA across four starts. Steele has also racked up 24 strikeouts versus only eight walks across 25 innings. If he continues to limit the free passes, the sky seems to be the limit for Steele. He's slated to take the hill again early next week against the Padres at Wrigley Field.

Steele (2-0) earned the win Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk over seven innings in a 8-2 victory over the Dodgers. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
Steele has been lights-out this year, as his 1.42 ERA is good for 12th among qualified starters thus far. He's added a 19:6 K:BB over 19 innings. The southpaw is quickly emerging as a pitcher fantasy managers can trust, especially considering he's faced three strong teams, starting against the Brewers and the Rangers prior to Friday's gem.

Steele (1-0) allowed one run on four hits across six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Rangers. He walked four and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Steele has been excellent across two starts so far this season, allowing just the one run through 12 innings while striking out 11. The four walks Saturday are a bit concerning, as the lefty struggled with control at times last year. He was still able to post a 3.18 ERA with 126 strikeouts over 119 innings in 2022, and a similar campaign could be on tap in 2023 with the potential for a step forward if he cuts down on the walks. Steele will look to keep rolling in his next scheduled start against the Dodgers on the road.

Steele struck out eight batters in six scoreless innings Saturday against the Brewers, walking one and allowing three hits. He did not factor in to the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Steele impressed last season to the tune of a 3.18 ERA in 24 starts, and his first outing of 2023 indicates there's more where that came from. Saturday's outing stands as one of the best of his young career, as only once last season did he throw six shutout innings (incidentally also against the Brewers). It wasn't enough to secure the victory, however, as the Brewers would go on to take a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning. Steele will look to have another strong start next week against the Rangers.

Steele is listed as the starting pitcher for Saturday's contest against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
It seemed like offseason acquisition Jameson Taillon would be the team's No. 2 pitcher behind Marcus Stroman to begin the year, but it will be Steele pitching the second game with Taillon set to debut Sunday. This allows the Cubs to go righty-lefty-righty with the top of their rotation. Steele had a strong 2022 with a 3.18 ERA and 126 strikeouts across 119 innings, which he'll look to build upon in 2023.

Steele allowed one run on four hits across three innings in Monday's Cactus League game against the Padres. He walked five and struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Steele is somewhat lucky he only allowed one run after letting nine players reach base in his three innings of work. The lefty had a nice 2022 campaign with a 3.18 ERA and 126 strikeouts across 119 innings, though control remains a bit of an issue. Steele posted a 4.3 BB/9 in 2021 and was only marginally better last year with a 3.8 BB/9. If the 27-year-old can improve in that area this season, he could be primed for another step forward.
