His control does continue to be spotty, as the right-hander's K:BB now sits at 8:7 following Monday's effort.

All but two have been scoreless outings, as he's served as a pleasant surprise out of the bullpen after arriving as a mid-spring waiver claim following his Reds release.

He figures to slot into a middle relief role until some of the Rays's injured bullpen arms return to action.

He will likely take on a similar role with Tampa Bay, who transferred right-hander Nathan Eovaldi to the 60-day DL in a corresponding move. Diaz is currently pitching for the Dominican Republic in the WBC, but should report to Rays' camp after the tournament concludes.

Diaz will return to the Reds for the first time in more than a month after he was optioned back on May 22. The right-hander will take the roster spot of JC Ramirez, who was DFA'd and subsequently claimed off waivers by the Angels. Diaz struggled in 11 appearances for Cincinnati earlier in the year, posting a 6.30 ERA to go with a 1.70 WHIP. He's righted the ship at Triple-A, however, allowing just two earned runs across 24 innings of work.
