Riddle (shoulder) is expected to play in minor-league games this week, Joe Frisario of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There's still no timetable for him to make his Grapefruit League debut, but Riddle is making progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery performed last August. Until he actually makes it back onto the field, though, Miguel Rojas remains the favorite to start at shortstop for the Marlins on Opening Day.

Riddle has begun taking batting practice as he recovers from last season's surgery on his left (non-throwing) shoulder, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Opening the season on the DL remains a distinct possibility for the young infielder, however, as Riddle hasn't begun making full throws and isn't expect to appear in Grapefruit League games until later in the spring at best. Until he shows more progress, Miguel Rojas should be considered the favorite to win the job as the Marlins' Opening Day shortstop.

Riddle (shoulder) remains in a rehab protocol and isn't expected to appear in Grapefruit League games until mid-March, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. "[Riddle is] coming off of surgery, and I still look at him as being in rehab. He really is in kind of rehab protocol from the standpoint of he can only do this, he can only do that."
EDGE Analysis
Riddle hasn't endured any complications from the surgery he underwent in August to repair his left shoulder, with team doctors even clearing him for full baseball activities prior to spring training. Even so, the Marlins aren't eager to have Riddle go at maximum capacity just yet with the regular season more than a month away. The inability to play early on in the spring could hinder Riddle nonetheless, as he's locked in a battle with Miguel Rojas for the starting shortstop job.

Riddle (shoulder) is fully healthy and cleared for all baseball activities prior to the start of spring training, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Riddle underwent a procedure to repair the slap tear in his left shoulder in early August, which caused the 26-year-old to miss the remainder of the 2017 season. Over the course of 70 games with the Marlines last year, he slashed .250/.282/.355 with three home runs and 31 RBI. Looking ahead, Riddle is in line to begin the 2018 campaign as the starter at shortstop, although his fantasy impact will likely be limited due to a bat that leaves something to be desired.

Riddle will undergo surgery next Friday to repair the slap tear in his left shoulder, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Riddle was already expected to miss the remainder of the 2017 season, and this news simply confirms that. Riddle will look to get healthy prior to the 2018 campaign while Miguel Rojas will close out the season as the Marlins' primary shortstop.

Riddle (shoulder) is likely out for the rest of the 2017 season, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The young shortstop has seen little improvement in his injured left shoulder during his rehab process, so it seems like the Marlins are simply going to press the reset button on him and have him gear up for 2018, although no official announcement has been made yet. If Riddle does in fact miss the remainder of the year, he'll finish with a .250/.282/.355 slash line with 31 RBI in 70 games played. Miguel Rojas will likely man shortstop regularly without Riddle in the fray.

Riddle (shoulder) has seen little progress while recovering from tendinitis and will consult with a doctor Monday, Craig Davis of the Miami Sun Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie has been dealing with shoulder pain for quite some time and only served to aggravate the injury by landing on it during a diving attempt last week. Riddle said the issue hasn't responded to rest and treatment, even though MRI results came back inconclusive. His return date remains foggy for now, meaning Miguel Rojas will continue seeing a majority of playing time at shortstop.

Riddle (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day DL on Tuesday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is battling shoulder tendinitis, so his timetable for return is a little murky. Miguel Rojas would be next in line at shortstop, but he is day-to-day with a shoulder injury. For now, Mike Aviles, whose contract was purchased from Triple-A as a corresponding move, will get some starts at shortstop. Riddle was hitting .250/.282/.355 with three home runs in 70 games prior to the injury.

The Marlins are expected to place Riddle (shoulder) on the 10-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Riddle has missed the Marlins' last four games, but it wasn't revealed until Monday that the shoulder issue may have played a role in the string of absences. The rookie's expected move to the disabled list comes at a difficult time for the Marlins, who were already starved for depth on the left side of the infield with Martin Prado (knee) on the disabled list, Adeiny Hechavarria having since been traded away and Riddle's replacement at shortstop, Miguel Rojas, sustaining a shoulder injury in Monday's game. Rojas is listed as day-to-day and is expected to avoid the DL for the time being, but utility man Mike Aviles will be recalled to provide some insurance in the infield while Riddle is sidelined.

Riddle has been dealing with left shoulder tendinitis, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Riddle has now missed four consecutive games with the shoulder ailment. If the utility infielder isn't able to suit up in the next couple of days he could be placed on the 10-day disabled list to allow the Marlins to occupy his roster spot with a healthy body. He remains a day-to-day case.
