Gray did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks over seven innings against the Marlins. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Gray allowed a pair of runs in the second inning before blanking the Marlins over his final five frames, completing seven innings in a second consecutive start. Gray has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his nine outings this season. The 25-year-old right-hander has had a breakout start to the season -- he's 3-5 with a 2.73 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 45:22 K:BB through 41.2 innings.

Gray (3-5) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and four walks over seven innings during an 11-6 victory over the Giants. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Gray allowed two or fewer runs for the sixth time over his first eight starts and completed a season-high seven innings en route to his third win in his past four appearances. Since giving up five earned runs (three home runs) in his first outing of the year, the right-hander has surrendered just 10 runs over 40.2 innings (2.24 ERA). The only concern so far for Gray has been his walks. He's surrendered at least one free pass in all eight of his starts, including multiple walks six times.

Gray (2-5) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Gray has turned in consistently decent starts this year, but the Nationals haven't been able to give him sufficient run support. Washington has scored just one run or less in all five of the right-hander's losses. The 25-year-old has posted adequate numbers this year, sporting a 3.03 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Additionally, Gray has given up three runs or less in all but one of his starts this year.

Gray (2-4) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over six innings against the Pirates. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was tagged for five runs in his first start of the year, but he's been excellent since, allowing two runs or fewer in his last five outings. His ERA is down to 2.67 with a 1.28 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB. Gray's been able to limit hard contact this year, lowering his ground ball rate from 34% last season to 45% through his first 33.2 innings this year. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, tentatively scheduled for next week in Arizona.

Gray (1-4) earned the win Tuesday, allowing no runs on four hits and one walk over six innings against the Mets. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Gray dominated the Mets on Tuesday, fanning nine batters over six scoreless innings. He was rewarded for his efforts, picking up his first win of the 2022-23 campaign after taking a loss in each of his first four starts. Gray has been adequately filling the role of Washington's top arm, with a 2.93 ERA and 8.13 K/9 on the season while having allowed four runs in his last 22.2 innings.

Gray (0-4) took the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits and four walks over five innings against the Orioles. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Gray pitched well Tuesday, allowing just one run while scattering four hits and four walks. However, he'd fall to 0-4 as the Nationals' bats were stymied in a 1-0 loss. The 25-year-old Gray has been solid since allowing five runs in his first start of the year, allowing three runs over his last 16.2 innings. He has a 3.74 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB through 21.2 innings.

Gray (0-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Angels after he gave up two runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old threw 55 of 103 pitches for strikes and generated just eight whiffs, but he was mostly able to keep the Halos in check. The Nationals mustered one hit Tuesday and have scored only a single run across Gray's three starts this season, leading to three straight losses despite a solid 4.32 ERA.

Gray (0-2) pitched six innings in a loss to Colorado on Thursday, allowing one run on eight hits and one walk while striking out six batters.
EDGE Analysis
Gray looked much better Thursday than he did in his first start of the campaign, when he gave up five runs over five innings against Atlanta. The right-hander racked up an impressive 19 swinging strikes and held Colorado to just one run, but he was on the wrong end of the 11th 1-0 outcome in Coors Field history. Gray should nonetheless have plenty of positive takeaways from this performance, as it was one of the best outings of his MLB career thus far.

Gray (0-1) took the loss Saturday, coughing up five runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over five innings as the Nationals fell 7-1 to Atlanta. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
It was the same old story for the right-hander, who got taken deep by both Ronald Acuna and Matt Olson within the first six pitches of the game. Gray has posted a HR/9 of 2.30 or higher in each of the last two seasons, and it doesn't look like his offseason work to add a cutter to his arsenal has solved that puzzle. Until he learns to keep the ball in the park, the 25-year-old will be too volatile to deploy in most fantasy formats other than as a deep streaming option. His early-season problems could get worse before they get better, as Gray's next start is set to come on a road trip to Coors Field next week.

Gray gave up four hits over six scoreless innings in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals. He struck out five without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has put together a very encouraging spring, allowing only one run -- and zero home runs -- across 12.1 innings with an 11:1 K:BB. Gray has the talent to put together a breakout campaign in 2023 if he's able to keep the ball in the park consistently.
