Are You For Real? Surprising SP Starts (Week 21) rotoballer.com Tue 8/21/18 3:30 AM
Welcome to our surprising starts series. Every week we'll be going over a few surprising starting pitcher performances around the majors to determine whether these starts were smoke and mirrors or something more.
With the season winding down there aren't as many waiver wire options that haven't already been covered, and boy was there a dearth of good starts to choose from this week.
Normally three pitchers are covered in this article, but quite frankly there weren't three surprising starts[...]
Josh Tomlin Placed on Disabled List rotoballer.com Tue 7/10/18 11:33 AM
Cleveland Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a hamstring injury. Tomlin was recently moved to the bullpen, however, he is still struggling in 2018, pitching to an 0-5 record with a 6.98 ERA and a 30/10 K/BB ratio. He shouldn't be owned in any fantasy leagues. Adam Plutko was called up in a corresponding move.
AL-Only Waiver Wire Team of the Week: MLB Week 15 rotoballer.com Mon 7/9/18 3:00 AM
Every week in baseball, a significant player will hit the disabled list, slip into a slump, or get traded out of a good spot. How fantasy owners adapt to these situations can make or break the season as a whole. One lousy add might not hurt the long-term standing of a team, but failing to take advantage of breakouts or impact bats before others sure can.
The primary challenge of playing in an NL or AL-only league is often the lack of options regarding adding and subtracting players when neede[...]
Josh Tomlin Moves to the Bullpen rotoballer.com Mon 5/21/18 7:20 AM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin will be moved to the bullpen. Tomlin's had a hard time in 2018, posting a 7.84 ERA and 1.68 WHIP while allowing 15 home runs in 31 innings of work. He was a decent innings eating back-of-the-rotation starter as recently as last season, so it's likely he'll get another chance this season. For now, Adam Plutko will get the first chance to take Tomlin's rotation spot.
Josh Tomlin Serves Up More Home Runs on Tuesday rotoballer.com Wed 5/16/18 8:44 AM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin worked 5 1/3 innings on Tuesday, leaving with a no-decision. He allowed four runs on six hits on the evening, walking none and striking out four. With two more home runs allowed on Tuesday, Tomlin has now given up a ludicrous 15 home runs in 31 innings of work. He'll take a 7.84 ERA into his next start and would seem to be in great danger of losing his rotation spot.
Josh Tomlin Struggles Again on Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 4/29/18 5:36 PM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin struggled again on Sunday, allowing six runs to the Seattle Mariners in six innings of work. Tomlin has had a very rough start to the season, as Sunday marked his fourth loss and saw his ERA move to 9.16. With some pitching reinforcements recovering from injury coming back soon, Tomlin's time in the rotation seems limited. His next scheduled start is on Friday against the Yankees. That could get ugly.
Josh Tomlin Gets Knocked Around by the Cubs on Tuesday rotoballer.com Wed 4/25/18 7:09 AM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin had a rough outing on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs, allowing five runs in just 3 2/3 innings. Tomlin coughed up four home runs despite getting just 11 outs, so things could have been even worse. Tomlin has now given up four home runs in two of the three games he's started this season. He's in the rotation for now because Danny Salazar (shoulder) and Ryan Merritt (shoulder) are both on the disabled list. Unless Tomlin turns things around quickly,[...]
Josh Tomlin Takes an Extra-Innings Loss on Wednesday rotoballer.com Wed 4/18/18 8:28 PM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin was saddled with the loss on Wednesday night, pitching the 15th and 16th innings while allowing the winning run to score with no outs in the 16th. Tomlin was not meant to pitch in this one, as he'd had his turn in the rotation skipped thanks to unexpected off days caused by postponements. It's unlikely that many of his fantasy owners had him active on Wednesday anyway, but Tomlin should only be owned in deeper AL-only leagues anyway.
Josh Tomlin Will Have His Next Start Skipped rotoballer.com Mon 4/16/18 8:29 AM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin will have his next turn in the rotation skipped. With Cleveland dealing with two postponements over the weekend, they have been able to reset their rotation so that Tomlin will not need to take a turn this week. Corey Kluber will start on Tuesday, and Carlos Carrasco on [...]
Josh Tomlin Comes Back Strong on Tuesday rotoballer.com Tue 4/10/18 5:36 PM
Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Josh Tomlin turned in a strong start on Tuesday, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and two walks. He struck out three but had to settle for a no-decision. Tomlin was scheduled to start on Monday but had his turn moved back a day because he was dealing with a minor back injury that he suffered in his previous start when he gave up eight runs in just three innings. Tomlin will have to turn in several more starts like Tuesday's if he wan[...]
