Week 26 Waiver Wire - First Base (1B) and Third Base (3B) rotoballer.com Sun 9/23/18 2:09 PM
It is likely the playoffs in head-to-head leagues have concluded. Hopefully, you are the champion. The season is not over for those in roto leagues. Now is the time to focus on speculative adds for players who may see increased roles or move to a better situation. The corner infield positions traditionally offer power with the potential for high averages. However, at this stage of the game, to get power, you'll likely get a mediocre batting average. The other route is to get players that are a li[...]
Josh Bell Has Three Hits rotoballer.com Tue 9/11/18 12:02 AM
Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell has been struggling lately. However, he had three hits Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals including a double. Bell also had an RBI and scored once. He's slashing just .091/.259/.364 over his last seven games. He has only 10 home runs this year to go along with 57 RBI. He also has 65 runs this season. Bell still has some fantasy value for his upside, but he makes for a high risk play during the fantasy baseball playoffs.
Josh Bell is Out on Friday rotoballer.com Fri 8/24/18 3:17 PM
Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers. It appears this is a rest day for Bell who has not done much at the plate lately. Francisco Cervelli will play first base and bat fifth versus lefty Wade Miley. Elias Diaz will be behind the plate and bat second on Friday. Diaz can be avoided in DFS contests, but Cervelli is worth a look against Miley.
Power Risers/Fallers for Week 21: Buy or Sell? rotoballer.com Thu 8/23/18 3:30 AM
Welcome to Week 21 of the 2018 MLB season and a new week of our investigation into the steepest power trenders in baseball, whether those trends are positive or negative.
As the season has progressed well into August and the MLB trade deadline has passed, the window of opportunity to snag a surging slugger or to rid yourself of a down-and-out disappointment grows shorter with every plate appearance. Most Fantasy Baseball Leagues have already had their trade deadlines come and go, and the only[...]
The Cut List (Week 21): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 8/19/18 4:00 AM
Welcome to Week 21 of the Cut List. Last week we saw Jon Lester and Jed Lowrie bounce back after enduring major slumps in July. Those weren't the best calls I've made this year, to say the least. This week I'm taking a look at Brian Anderson, Kyle Schwarber, Sean Newcomb, and Chris Taylor. All four players should be cut in most standard shallow formats.

ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell has had a lost season in 2018, posting a .266/.349/.413 slash line, but seems to have turned the corner as of late. He has two home runs in the last week, getting a hit in six of his last seven games, and is flashing the power that led to 26 home runs and 90 RBI in 2017. Taking a step back to the beginning of July, Bell is slashing .310/.400/.490 and his 13% walk rate is impre[...]
The Cut List (Week 20): Time to Let Go? rotoballer.com Sun 8/12/18 5:00 AM
Welcome to Week 20 of the Cut List. This week I'm taking a look at Starlin Castro, Jon Lester, Jed Lowrie, and Eric Thames. I explain why each player should be dropped in most standard shallow leagues.
Last week's cut candidates (Cesar Hernandez, Matt Kemp, Asdrubal Cabrera, Tim Anderson) went a combined 16-for-66 with seven runs, two home runs, eight RBI, and one stolen base. I think last week was one of my better pieces all year and I hope my suggestions have helped through twenty weeks.

Josh Bell Could Be Activated Wednesday rotoballer.com Tue 8/7/18 2:21 PM
Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Josh Bell (oblique) could be activated off the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday. Bell has been through a couple of workouts without any issues, so the Pirates might not bother with a rehab assignment. Bell was heating up before his injury, but has been fairly disappointing this season.

ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Elias Diaz is hitting .286 with seven home runs, 25 RBI and 27 runs scored in 59 games this season. He already has career highs in runs scored, home runs and RBI. Diaz's .286 average would rank third among catchers if he were qualified while his seven home runs rank tied for 19th among back stops.
The Pirates have noticed Diaz's offensive breakout as the catcher has been batting clean up i[...]
