It's not entirely clear how long the right-hander is expected to be sidelined, but he'll become eligible to come off the IL for the Sept. 24 game against the Royals. Cisnero struggled in his last two appearances, allowing seven earned runs on four hits and three walks. Reliever Jason Foley was recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take his roster spot.

Cisnero (4-4) allowed three runs on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in one inning, taking a blown save but earning the win Friday versus Tampa Bay.

The 32-year-old allowed a three-run double to Ji-Man Choi in the seventh inning, but Detroit took the lead back in the home half of the frame on a Jonathan Schoop grand slam. While it was one of Cisnero's ugliest outings of the year, it ultimately didn't lead to disaster. The right-hander owns a 3.06 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 62:30 K:BB across 61.2 innings this year. He's added four saves, three blown saves and 18 holds in 66 appearances.

Cisnero (3-4) worked around a walk to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and earn the win Friday against the Blue Jays.

Cisnero handled the eighth inning of a 1-1 game and picked up the win when the Tigers scored in the bottom half of the frame. The righty has been solid this year with a 2.72 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. He also has four saves. Gregory Soto earned the save Friday and leads the team with 16, and Michael Fulmer is also a notch ahead of Cisnero in the bullpen pecking order, keeping the latter's fantasy value capped for the time being, though he's still been able to contribute here and there.

Cisnero pitched a clean eighth inning in Tuesday's win over the Red Sox to record his 15th hold of the season.

EDGE Analysis

The 15 holds easily pace the team, as Cisnero has established himself as a reliable setup man, though it appears Michael Fulmer and Gregory Soto have the inside track on save opportunities at the moment. Fulmer pitched the seventh in this one, while Soto ended the game to earn his 12th save of the season. Cisnero should remain in the mix, but his fantasy appeal is limited by the other two relievers for the time being.

Cisnero retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in Sunday's 6-5 win over the White Sox.

Gregory Soto began the ninth inning in a non-save situation, but he struggled to finish the game. Cisnero entered with one on and two outs, and he got Andrew Vaughn to line out. The right-hander hasn't given up a run in his last 9.2 innings, racking up two saves, four holds and a win in his last nine appearances. Overall, Cisnero has a 2.72 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:13 K:BB across 36.1 innings this year. He's up to four saves and 10 holds as part of Detroit's closer committee.

Cisnero pitched a clean inning with two strikeouts to earn the save in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Astros on Saturday.

After Casey Mize allowed just one run across six innings, Cisnero came in for the seventh and shut the door against his former team in the first game of the twin bill. It was his third save of the season in four opportunities, and he's been effective overall with a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 41 strikeouts across 33 innings. With Michael Fulmer (neck) landing on the 10-day injured list after Saturday's nightcap, Cisnero is likely to see more save opportunities in the short term, though Gregory Soto is also squarely in the mix.

Cisnero worked around a hit to log a scoreless eighth inning and record a hold in Wednesday's win over the Cardinals.
