De Leon was traded from the Cubs to the Dodgers on Sunday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports. De Leon converted from the infield to pitcher in 2010 and will work out of the bullpen for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He gets his fastball up into the mid-90s, and could be an option for the already struggling Dodgers bullpen at some point.

De Leon was reassigned to minor league camp Thursday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports. De Leon, one of 12 players cut by the Cubs on Thursday, signed a minor league contract in January. He pitched six innings this spring, striking out three and walking none. He's likely headed to Triple-A Iowa.

De Leon has been released by the Athletics, Chris Cotillo reports. De Leon should receive a minor-league offer somewhere, but it's going to be a battle for him to return to the majors in a regular role.

The A's designated De Leon for assignment Tuesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. At 27, De Leon's window to develop into a major league regular is closing, but he has a strong track record at Triple-A and can pump his fastball in at around 95 mph, so another team may be inclined to take a flier on him on waivers. The A's had to clear some room after acquiring four players in the Jeff Samardzija trade Tuesday.

The A's claimed De Leon off waivers from the Astros on Thursday. Leon, 27, has a 5.19 ERA in 19 career appearances at the major league level, but he's been outstanding at Triple-A, with a 2.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 7.9 K/9 over 63 innings. The right-hander's fastball velocity ticked up to 95.3 mph this season (from 94.9 mph in 2013), and he also throws a slider and a changeup. He should make a run at a bullpen spot in spring training.

De Leon will be recalled by the Astros Tuesday when rosters expand, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports. De Leon has risen relatively quickly through the Astros' farm system, most recently posting a 2.63 ERA over 48 innings in his second stint at the Triple-A level. He'll provide bullpen depth for the Astros down the stretch.

Jorge De Leon (quad) threw live batting practice Thursday. De Leon had to undergo an MRI after straining his right quad last week, but he's feeling much better. The 26-year-old is competing for a middle relief spot in the Astros' bullpen.

Jorge De Leon (quad) could throw a bullpen Monday. De Leon underwent an MRI last week for a sore right quad, and it apparently showed no major damage. He's almost back on track but still a longshot for the Astros' Opening Day roster. The 26-year-old right-hander had a 3.46 ERA in 67 2/3 innings last summer between Double-A and Triple-A.

Jorge De Leon underwent an MRI on his ailing right quad. De Leon strained the quad earlier this week. The Astros are waiting on the results of the exam, but it's probably safe to say he'll be held out of action for at least a few more days. A non-roster invitee, De Leon is a long shot to crack the Opening Day roster.
