Adams went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and also struggled defensively in Wednesday's loss to Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Adams saw his first action as a major-leaguer, starting in center field and batting ninth against Atlanta. In addition to fanning twice in four plate appearances, the 23-year-old also made two ill-advised throws that allowed a runner to take an extra base and misplayed a line drive off the bat of Michael Harris II that was ruled a double. Adams has a reputation as a good defender, so he'll almost certainly be better in that regard, though he's struggled with making contact throughout his minor-league tenure and may have a hard time overcoming that challenge while up in the majors.

Adams' contract was selected from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Tuesday's game in Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old outfielder's bat may not be ready for success against big-league pitching, but Adams is a strong defensive center fielder. He slashed .264/.351/.465 with 13 home runs and 37 steals in 89 games at Triple-A, although in the Pacific Coast League that still equates to below-league-average production (93 wRC+). Adams hasn't been a league-average hitter since a nine-game run at High-A in 2019. He had a 27.7 percent strikeout rate at Triple-A and turns 24 in October.

The Angels reassigned Adams to minor-league camp Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old outfielder reached Double-A for the first time last season, slashing .249/.326/.359 through 236 plate appearances. He certainly turned some heads this spring with a 1.004 OPS and four steals, but there remains more for Adams to do before he's ready for Triple-A and the majors -- bringing down his 29.7% strikeout rate would be a good start.

Adams was promoted to Double-A Rocket City on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Adams spent the first three months of the campaign with High-A Tri-City, slashing .228/.308/.306 with zero homers, 22 RBI and 18 stolen bases over 249 plate appearances. Despite the mediocre slash line, he notably reduced his strikeout rate to 21.7 percent after finishing with an ugly 37.8 percent rate in 307 plate appearances at the same level last season. Adams has started off well in his first stint at Double-A, going 5-for-8 with a run and two RBI over his first two games.

Adams (ankle) returned to action Wednesday for High-A Tri-City, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one steal.
EDGE Analysis
He missed a week with a minor ankle injury. Adams is hitting .381/.417/.524 with zero home runs and two steals through five games. Most importantly, he has only struck out three times in 21 at-bats after logging a 37.8 K% at this level last year. Look for him to get the bump to Double-A in the coming weeks if he keeps producing.

Adams was removed from High-A Tri City's game Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Jared Tims of Talkin' Halos reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adams struggled in 71 games for Tri City last season with a .600 OPS, but he entered Wednesday's contest 7-for-16 with four RBI, four runs and a stolen base through four games this year. It's unclear if the 22-year-old will require a stint on the injured list.

Through 25 games for High-A Tri-City, Adams is hitting just .186/.266/.268 with one homer, seven steals, 13 RBI and 12 runs.
EDGE Analysis
Worse yet, he's struck out 40 times in 109 plate appearances -- a 36.7 percent clip -- with observers such as FanGraphs' Brendan Gawlowski saying that he looks lost at the dish. Adams has elite speed and the tools to be a quality defender, but his power hasn't manifested as the Angels would have hoped and his hit tool is proving to be a major issue. The plus side is that he's still just 21 years old and an impressive athlete, and perhaps the lower-leg injury that sidelined him earlier this season is to blame for his timing (or lack thereof) at the plate, but unless he turns things around, he's likely to tumble out of the top 100 on most prospect lists.

Adams was activated off the minor-league injured list Tuesday after being sidelined for over a month due to a lower leg injury, independent baseball writer Taylor Blake Ward reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to his activation, Adams hadn't played since May 6, though he didn't officially go on the injured list until May 29. He started Tuesday and went 1-for-4 in his return.

Adams was invited to the Angels' big-league spring training camp on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adams has plenty of potential, but he's unlikely to be competing for an Opening Day roster spot just yet. He's played just nine games at the High-A level, so he'll presumably spend this year in the upper minors before pushing for a big-league spot next season.

Adams will be part of the Angels' 60-man roster.
EDGE Analysis
While seemingly unlikely to grab significant at-bats at the MLB level this season, Adams -- who is not on the 40-man roster -- will still be able to work on his development in what is looking like the absence of a minor-league season. The 20-year-old's highest league level in 2019 was Single-A, but he did receive multiple promotions last year and recorded a .720 OPS across three levels from rookie ball through High-A.
