Zimmermann (neck) has been confirmed as the Tigers' starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Rays, Dawn Klemish of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers will officially reinstate Zimmermann from the 10-day injured list in the hours leading up to the 6:10 p.m. EDT first pitch. Zimmermann was sidelined for just over the minimum amount of time with a right cervical spasm, for which he required a nerve block injection. Manager Ron Gardenhire indicated that Zimmermann felt good coming out of his bullpen session a couple of days ago, so the right-hander shouldn't face any major restrictions while slotting back into the Detroit rotation.

The Tigers are expected to active Zimmermann (neck) from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Rays, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann was placed on the IL on Aug. 5 after experiencing neck spasms, but his ability to resume throwing just a few days later suggests the injury was never viewed as a major concern. Manager Ron Gardenhire said earlier this week that Zimmermann wouldn't necessarily require a rehab assignment prior to being reinstated, so the right-hander could get clearance for the weekend if he completes a side session or live batting-practice session Thursday without incident. Drew VerHagen would likely surrender his spot in the rotation if Zimmermann gets the green light to start this weekend.

Zimmermann (neck) may bypass a rehab assignment and be activated soon, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Ron Gardenhire said that Zimmermann would be activated to make his next major-league start sometime in the near future. The 33-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Aug. 5, and began throwing from flat ground Saturday. He appears to be making a quick recovery, and it's encouraging that he won't need any rehab appearances before returning to the Tigers.

Zimmermann (neck) threw on flat ground from over 100 feet Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann was placed on the injured list Monday, with this marking his first notable activity since. He was expected to only miss the minimum 10 days, meaning he could be activated as soon as next Thursday.

Zimmermann was placed on the 10-day injured list with a neck spasm Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann has been struggling lately, recording a 10.13 ERA and a 1.95 WHIP over his last six starts. It's unclear if the neck issue has been bothering him for a while. He's expected to spend the minimum 10 days on the injured list and return after missing just a single start, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. Spencer Turnbull (back) was reinstated from the injured list in a corresponding move.

Zimmermann yielded four runs on six hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out seven batters while not factoring into the decision during the loss to Texas.
EDGE Analysis
It was the first time Zimmermann made it through six full innings since June 30 and actually lowered his ERA a bit from 7.23 to 7.13. After allowing a pair of runs in the first innings, the 33-year-old righty kept the Rangers fairly quiet until a two-run shot from Danny Santana in the fifth. Zimmerman will look for his second win of the year in a home outing against the Royals on Thursday.

Zimmermann (1-8) got the win against the Angels on Monday, giving up two earned runs on four hits over 5.1 innings, striking out two and walking none as the Tigers picked up a 7-2 victory.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a rough season for Zimmermann, who was winless over his first 13 starts coming into the contest, but he finally broke through with a victory on Monday, coming two outs short of notching his first quality start since June 30. It's still been a highly forgettable campaign for the veteran right-hander, as he's sporting a 7.23 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP over 66 innings.

Zimmermann (0-8) took the loss Wednesday, giving up four runs on eight hits and a walk over 4.1 innings while striking out three as the Tigers were downed 4-0 by the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Remarkably, this was actually Zimmermann's best performance yet in July, as he pitched into the fifth inning and gave up less than six runs for the first time in four starts. The right-hander will carry a 7.57 ERA and 43:20 K:BB through 60.2 innings into his next outing Monday, on the road against the Angels.

Zimmermann (0-7) allowed six runs on seven hits across 3.2 innings to take the loss Friday against the Blue Jays. He walked four and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann allowed a single run in each of the first two innings, then saw things really unravel in the fourth, when the righty allowed four runs on four hits and three walks before departing with two outs. It's been a miserable season for the 33-year-old, who will take a 7.51 ERA into his next scheduled start Thursday against the Mariners.

Zimmermann allowed seven runs on eight hits across four innings in a no-decision against the Royals Sunday. He struck out two and did not issue any walks.
EDGE Analysis
Zimmermann was bailed out by his offense in a 12-8 Tigers win, but the veteran continued to pitch poorly and could have easily picked up his seventh loss of the season. Over his last two starts, Zimmermann has been blasted for 14 earned runs on 21 hits across 7.1 innings of work. He'll take an atrocious 7.01 ERA and 0-6 record into his next outing against the Blue Jays on Friday and can be safely avoided in most fantasy formats.
