Oakland Athletics catcher Jonathan Lucroy (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. Lucroy has struggled against left-handed pitching this season, so Oakland will give him the night off. Josh Phegley will draw the start behind the plate and bat ninth against Martin Perez. Phegley does not see enough playing time worth owning him in fantasy leagues. He's not a solid option in DFS contests either.

Oakland Athletics catcher Jonathan Lucroy had a nice day at the plate on Monday against the White Sox, going 3-for-4 with three singles and an RBI. He now has six hits over his last four games and is hitting .268 with a .328 on-base percentage and 21 RBI on the season. While he doesn't hit for power (.349 slugging percentage), Lucroy is a consistent catcher option in deep single-catcher leagues or two-catcher leagues.

Lucroy has improved his batting average this year (.287), however, it comes with a .333 BABIP. He once was a source of power but he has yet to hit his first homer in 2018.

Lucroy is hitting .254 with five RBI to start the season. Lucroy's play has fallen off a bit since his All-Star season in 2016. However, he's a starting catcher on a budding Oakland team. He won't give you massive results, but you can do much worse than Lucroy on most nights.
