Loaisiga (shoulder) recently returned to the United States after attending to a family matter in Nicaragua, and he was slated to begin a throwing program Monday, Max Goodman of SI.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga was out of the country for about a week for personal reasons, but the absence doesn't appear to have significantly impacted his return timeline. If he makes steady progress in the throwing program, the righty reliever could still return by the end of June. Loaisiga last pitched May 22 before going on the IL with right shoulder inflammation.

Loasiga (shoulder) is currently tending to a family matter in Nicaragua, Bryan Hoch and Brian Hall of MLB.com report.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga went on the on the injured list May 25 with right shoulder discomfort, and he was subsequently shut down from throwing for 10 days. The right-hander has since left the country, though manager Aaron Boone stated that Loaisiga may throw while in Nicaragua. The expectation is that Loaisiga will return to action by the end of June.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Loaisiga will be placed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with right shoulder discomfort, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga becomes the third high-leverage reliever to land on injured list within the past five days, joining Chad Green (Tommy John surgery) and Aroldis Chapman (Achilles). The Yankees are hoping that Loaisiga will be ready to go after a near-minimum length stay on the shelf, but his absence along with Green's and Chapman's suddenly tests the depth of the club's bullpen. Clay Holmes now looks like the clear top candidate to see the bulk of the save opportunities for the Yankees, while multi-inning weapon Michael King could be counted on to handle a more traditional setup role.

Loaisiga (1-2) took the loss against the White Sox in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
Starters Luis Severino and Michael Kopech dueled through seven scoreless innings before Loaisiga was brought in to handle the eighth. The right-hander was unable to get out of the frame, allowing four singles that led to four runs. Loaisiga was outstanding out of the bullpen for the Yankees last season, but he has struggled in 2022, posting a 7.02 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 5.4 BB/9 over 16.2 innings.

Loaisiga (1-1) earned the win against the White Sox on Thursday despite allowing two runs on one hit and one walk over one inning.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga has largely struggled this season, and Thursday was no different, as he gave up a walk and a home run to the first two batters he faced. That allowed the White Sox to tie the score, but the Yankees exploded for seven runs in the top of the eighth to hand Loaisiga the victory. After posting a 2.17 ERA in 57 appearances in 2021, the right-hander has compiled a 5.93 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over his first 13.2 frames this season. He does have four holds, however.

Loaisiga (0-1) allowed four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one inning to take the loss in Sunday's matchup against Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga entered Sunday's game in the bottom of the seventh inning with runners on first and third with two outs, and he struck out Austin Hays to end the frame. However, the right-hander struggled in the eighth inning, as he gave up two singles and two walks prior to his removal with two outs. Loaisiga had allowed just one run in 4.1 innings during his first five appearances of the season, but he took the loss Sunday since the Yankees failed to produce any runs. In spite of his rough outing against Baltimore, Loaisiga is one of the top setup men in baseball.

Loaisiga allowed two hits and struck out one in a scoreless inning Tuesday to notch a hold against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander threw 10 of 11 pitches for strikes in the outing, and he avoided great danger by getting Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground into a fielder's choice with two outs and a pair of runners on base. Loaisiga has held opponents scoreless in all three of his appearances this season while posting a 2:2 K:BB over 3.1 frames. He figures to be the primary bridge to Aroldis Chapman after racking up 17 holds in 2021.

Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning against Toronto on Wednesday, striking out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander made his return from a nearly four-week stay on the injured list and was called in to pitch to the heart of Toronto's order in the seventh inning. He did so with ease, striking out George Springer before getting both Marcus Semien and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground out. Loaisiga's return is a major boon to the Yankees' bullpen, as he has notched nine wins, five saves and 17 holds while posting a 2.22 ERA and 1.01 WHIP across 55 appearances this season.

The Yankees reinstated Loaisiga (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
New York optioned Andrew Heaney to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to open up a spot on the 28-man active roster for Loaisiga, who had been out since Sept. 5 with a strained rotator cuff. Before getting shut down with the injury, Loaisiga had factored into the ninth-inning mix, but Aroldis Chapman has since seemed to right the ship and regained security as the Yankees' clear closer. Loaisiga should still prove valuable in a setup role over the final five games of the regular season.
