Loaisiga (2-0) tossed 5.1 scoreless innings to earn the win Monday against the Phillies, striking out eight while allowing one hit and two walks.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga enjoyed an excellent outing in this one, delivering new career highs in innings pitched and strikeouts at the MLB level. Hew threw an impressive 66 percent of his pitches for strikes, including 15 swinging strikes, and induced six groundball outs to stifle the visitors. Loaisiga was roughed up a bit in his previous outing, but this bounce-back effort gives him a sterling 1.93 ERA to go along with an 11.6 K/9 through 14 innings with the Yanks. He'll face his toughest test yet in his next scheduled start against the Braves.

Loaisiga allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings in Wednesday's win over the Mariners. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't nearly as sharp an outing as his MLB debut when he fired five scoreless innings, but he was done no favors by reliever Chasen Shreve who allowed two inherited runners to score to bring the final tally to three earned. The 23-year-old labored in this one, needing 84 pitches (51 strikes) just to get through 3.2 innings. With Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) still on the shelf, Loaisiga figures to take at least a couple more turns through the rotation. He's lined up to take on the Phillies on Monday next time out.

Loaisiga (1-0) picked up the win in Friday's 5-0 victory over the Rays, allowing three hits and four walks over five scoreless innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie's control deserted him at times, not surprising for a 23-year-old making his big-league debut in pinstripes in Yankee Stadium, but Loaisiga was impressive when he was getting the ball over the plate, generating 17 swinging strikes out of 91 pitches (57 total strikes). Depending on how quickly Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) gets healthy, Loaisiga could make two or more starts for New York, with his next outing set for Wednesday at home against the Mariners.

Loaisiga was called up as expected Friday and will start against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Loaisiga began the year with High-A Tampa and has made just six starts above that level, but his performances this season have been impressive, with a 3.00 ERA and a 58:4 K:BB split between Tampa and Double-A Trenton. He'll take the hill opposite Nathan Eovaldi on Friday.

Loaisiga will be recalled from Double-A Trenton and start Friday's game against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was originally reported that Loaisiga would make his big-league debut Thursday, but manager Aaron Boone clarified his comments during Tuesday's postgame interview, saying that the young pitcher would instead start Friday with Domingo German getting the nod Thursday.

Manager Aaron Boone said Loaisiga will be recalled from Double-A Trenton to start Thursday's game against the Rays, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Masahiro Tanaka (hamstring) landing on the disabled list over the weekend, Loaisiga will be given the first opportunity to take his turn in the rotation for the time being. The 23-year-old compiled a combined 3.00 ERA and 58:4 K:BB across 10 starts (45 innings) split between High-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton prior to earning the promotion. Seeing as Loaisiga has pitched just 25 innings above High-A (and none at Triple-A), it may be wise to wait and see how he fares in his big-league debut before considering him as a streaming option.

Loaisiga appears to be in contention to fill the vacancy in the Yankees rotation Friday against the Rays, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With only 14 appearances in affiliated ball over the previous two seasons, the right-hander from Nicaragua received limited attention in prospect circles entering 2018. The Yankees thought enough of Loaisiga to protect him from the Rule 5 draft over the winter, and the 23-year-old has only further validated that decision with the dominance he has displayed across two levels. After opening the season with a 1.35 ERA and 26:1 K:BB in 20 innings at High-A Tampa, Loaisiga earned a promotion to Double-A Trenton and has continued to impress. Though issues with the long ball have kept his ERA at 4.32 over 25 frames, he has continued to control the strike zone effectively (32:3 K:BB). Given Loaisiga's lack of experience at the upper levels of the minors, it would be rather bold of the Yankees to throw him into the fire at the major-league level, but the fact that he already has a spot on the 40-man roster may give him an edge over his primary competition for the rotation opening in 30-year-old David Hale.
