Hernandez struck out all four hitters faced Friday, allowing just one foul ball during the at-bats, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez had spent the shutdown in New York, an epicenter of the coronavirus, and was unable restart a throwing program as other teammates did. He only started throwing to live batters earlier this week. "All I can say is he was absolutely filthy," manager Chris Woodward said. "His command was probably the most impressive. He's got elite stuff as we know. Upper 90s, ton of movement on his fastball, really good slider. Changeup was really good." Hernandez is hoping to crack the active roster as a multi-inning reliever and spot starter.

Hernandez allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and four walks while striking over 13 over nine Cactus League innings.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez handled the transition from starter to reliever quite well. His mid-90s fastball gained a few ticks in the shorter relief outing, and he struck out 10.3 batters per nine innings in a late-season audition for Texas in 2019. The right-hander continued to pitch well over the winter and into spring training. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News speculates Hernandez will make the final roster, with the only question being how big a role he'll have in the bullpen.

Hernandez allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four over three scoreless innings in Thursday's spring game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez got the start against the Cubs' regulars and handled himself well. "I knew this was a good test for me," Hernandez told Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. "I felt like I controlled myself pretty good and did a good job of making them hit the pitches I wanted. I was trying to attack on every pitch." The right-hander allowed one hard-hit ball among his 47 pitches and got ahead of seven of the 12 batters he faced. Hernandez was originally scheduled to pitch relief in the Rangers' other spring game Thursday, but an injury to Joe Palumbo (heel) forced the team to adjust. Hernandez is competing for a job in the bullpen, though his performance against the Cubs may have sealed the deal. He could fill a multi-inning, middle-relief role, an area of need for the Rangers, who were 23-33 when starters failed to go six innings in 2019.

Hernandez allowed two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two in Saturday's Cactus Leage game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez hit 100 mph on the gun against his first batter and retired the side quickly before faltering in the second inning. He was predominantly a starter last season at Double-A Frisco, but the 23-year-old threw nine games, mostly in relief, for the Rangers in 2019. A spot in the Rangers' rotation is unlikely, but Hernandez could fill a long-relief role in 2020.

Hernandez will be making his third spring appearance but first start. He's allowed one run on two hits while striking out four in two innings of Cactus League work.

Hernandez (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two and picking up the win in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez worked behind opener Luke Farrell in the bullpen game for the Rangers, and Hernandez's two spotless innings were enough for the win. The 23-year-old owns a 4.32 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 16.2 innings this year despite an unsightly 19:13 K:BB across his nine appearances.

Hernandez (1-1) gave up three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out four through 2.2 innings to take the loss against the Athletics on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Serving as the opener, Hernandez delivered two scoreless inning s before allowing three baserunners and a two-run home run in the third frame. The 23-year-old has a 3.75 ERA with a 12:9 K:BB through six appearances this season.

Hernandez will serve as an opener Sunday against Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Hernandez owns a 1.93 ERA in 9.1 innings for the Rangers this season, though his 8:7 K:BB is far from convincing. The Rangers have yet to announce who will follow him Sunday.

Hernandez was charged with three runs (one earned) on two hits over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday. He struck out three batters and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
This was Hernandez's fourth career appearance and first career start. He pitched three times out of the bullpen following his Aug. 20 promotion, allowing one run while fanning five in 5.2 innings. It's been an encouraging start to his major-league career after Hernandez posted an ERA north of 5.00 at Double-A before joining the big club (96 innings). The 23-year-old righty has good fastball-slider combo and looks like a pitcher to keep an eye on, but Hernandez is not fully stretched out and it's not clear if he will remain in the rotation.

Hernandez will start Saturday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old made his big-league debut in late August and has gone on to allow one run while posting a 5:4 K:BB in 5.2 innings of work, all in relief. He's been primarily a starter thus far in his professional career and will get his first chance to pitch in that capacity in the majors Saturday.
