The 25-year-old owns a sharp 2.89 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 9.1 innings of relief (five appearances) with the Red Wings so far this season. Curtiss struggled during a late-season promotion in 2017, however, compiling an 8.31 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 8.2 frames, so he'll likely be utilized in a low-leverage role with the big club to start off.

Curtis was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.

Curtis had an impressive season at Triple-A last year with a 1.85 ERA and 12.3 K/9. He struggled in his first trip to the majors with a 8.31 ERA and allowing nine hits and two home runs in 8.2 innings. However, he had a 10.4 K/9 in the majors. He should be back in the majors at some point this summer due to his velocity (95.2 mph average fastball) and decent control.

Curtiss will join the Twins prior to Wednesday's game against the White Sox following the club's selection of his contract, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.

Curtiss makes his first trip up to the big-leagues after spending time in the highest two tiers of the minors this season. During his time with Triple-A Rochester, the right-hander has posted a 1.85 ERA and 0.86 WHIP over 24.1 innings. He will serve as depth out of the bullpen moving forward.
