Joey Wendle To Be Activated Friday rotoballer.com Thu 6/13/19 5:06 PM

Tampa Bay Rays utilityman Joey Wendle (wrist) is expected to be activated off of the injured list on Friday. Wendle was very productive in his rookie season in 2018 slashing .300/.354/.435 with seven home runs and 16 steals. He was also fourth in AL rookie of the year voting. Despite his eligibility at nearly every infield position and outfield, it's hard to see exactly where and how often he'll slot into the lineup. His return could push Brandon Lowe, [...]

The Tampa Bay Rays are activating infielder Joey Wendle for Thursday's game against the Angels and are optioning Christian Arroyo to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Wendle played eight games with the Rays this year before fracturing his wrist which has kept him out of action since April 25. He went 7-for-15 with a homer in four rehab games in the minors, a terrific sign moving forward since wrist injuries are known to linger. [...]

Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle (wrist) will start his rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte on Thursday. Manager Kevin Cash said Wendle will have to manage the pain in his fractured wrist. Wendle had three hits in 22 at-bats (.136) with no homers and two RBI in 2019 before his injury, and he'll likely return to an infield utility role with Yandy Diaz starting at third base and Brandon Lowe entrenched at second base, at least against right-handers. [...]

Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle (wrist) was working out at High-A Charlotte on Tuesday and could start a rehab assignment as soon as Wednesday. Wendle has been out since April 24 with a fractured wrist and had just three hits in 22 at-bats (.136) before suffering his injury. With Yandy Diaz at third base and Brandon Lowe holding down the keystone, there won't be a whole lot of regular playing time to go around when [...]

Joey Wendle Has Cast Removed rotoballer.com Wed 5/22/19 3:53 PM

Tampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle (wrist) had his cast removed on Wednesday and is "free to move forward as I can tolerate" in terms of baseball activities. He could start swinging soon and should be able to return to the team sometime in June. It's great news for Wendle, but playing time will be his biggest concern when he's ready to return to the majors. Yandy Diaz, Brandon Lowe and Daniel Robertson pose serious threats to Wendle's playing time, and Matt Duffy is also nearing a return.
