Votto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 3-0 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Votto was hitless in his first two at-bats but connected on a heater just two pitches into the sixth and sent it into McCovey Cove to extend the Reds' lead to 3-0. The 37-year-old has lost touch with the long ball in recent years despite his home field being one of the more homer-friendly ballparks in the league. Fantasy managers should temper expectations for Votto in his 15th season. He's still the team's everyday first baseman, but he hasn't produced elite numbers at the plate since racking up 36 home runs and 100 RBI in 2017.

Votto's RBI-single Sunday against the Cardinals' Carlos Martinez was measured with a 113.6 mph exit velocity, just his second ball over 110 mph according to StatCast since 2015, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto hasn't benefited from the livelier ball the last few years, in no small part because he frequently hasn't been at full strength, but he appears healthier now. With him batting in the third spot in the order, the Reds need a far better season from him Votto than they've received the last few seasons.

Votto went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Thursday's Opening Day loss to the Cardinals, and hit two infield pop-outs in one game for the first time since his rookie season in 2008, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto returned to spring training game action only on Friday last week after being on the COVID-IL list, so seeing him a little off his game should be expected. Not only did he have the highly unusual infield pop-ups, but he also had trouble scooping two balls in the dirt. This isn't necessarily a harbinger of things to come for Votto.

Votto (COVID-19) will bat third and play first base Friday against Arizona, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto tested positive for COVID-19 in mid-March but has been back with the team for workouts for the past several days. He'd only gotten into four spring games prior to coming down with the illness, so it remains to be seen whether or not he can get up to full speed by Opening Day.

Votto (COVID-19) hasn't yet played in a spring training game since rejoining the team on Sunday. His status for Opening Day remains up in the air, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds haven't yet said when Votto will return to game action. "Let's get his legs underneath him and go from there," general manager Nick Krall said. "I can't give you a timetable. It affects different people in different ways."

Votto (COVID-19) has returned to the Reds training camp in Arizona, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto has less than two weeks to ramp back up and be ready for Opening Day. According to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, the 37-year-old officially remains on the COVID-19 injured list, but he can still appear in spring games before being activated. The Reds have used a wide variety of players at first base in Votto's absence, including Kyle Farmer, Cheslor Cuthbert and Alex Blandino.

The Reds announced Wednesday that Votto tested positive for COVID-19, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto was initially placed on the injured list Wednesday without an explanation, but he ultimately gave the team permission to reveal the nature of his absence. It's not yet certain whether he's experiencing any symptoms, but he'll be away from the team for at least 10 days while he waits to clear MLB's COVID-19 protocol, according to Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer. With just over three weeks remaining until Opening Day, it's fair to wonder whether the 37-year-old will be able to build up in time for the start of the year.

Votto was placed on the 10-day injured list for an undisclosed reason Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds didn't provide a reason for Votto's placement on the injured list, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to action. The 37-year-old had appeared in four games to begin spring training and went 4-for-9 with a double, two runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

Votto was placed on the injured list by the Reds on Wednesday without an injury designation, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Votto was similarly placed on the injured list last season for one day when he reported illness symptoms and got checked out to make sure he didn't test positive for COVID-19. There's been no word yet if this is a similar instance.

Votto is 4-for-9 with a walk to begin the season and has taken a different approach to spring training at-bats this season to help counter recent slow starts in previous seasons, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. "Yeah, he looks different," manager David Bell said on Monday. "I know that he's intentionally made some changes, and I think it's showing up."
EDGE Analysis
Votto in previous years would sometimes not swing at all in his first couple of spring training at-bats, but that hasn't been the case this spring. Votto is still going after pick 300 and after the 30th first basemen in most drafts. He's not a bad option to fill your last corner or utility spot as a potential source of profit.
