Loperfido entered Tuesday 0-for-22 with 10 strikeouts over his last six games. He was able to break the slump and pick up his first steal since June 23 when he was a member of the Astros. The outfielder is slashing .207/.266/.310 with two home runs, three steals, 17 RBI, 14 runs scored, five doubles and two triples over 159 plate appearances this season. He's maintained a strong-side platoon role in left field despite his recent poor hitting, though he could lose some work if Davis Schneider is able to break out of his own slump any time soon.

The 25-year-old has had a quick start to his Jays tenure, going 3-for-10 in two games since being traded from the Astros. Loperfido has started both games for his new squad in left field, but he could shift to center on occasion when Daulton Varsho needs a breather. On the season, Loperfido's slashing .241/.299/.371 with just two homers in 40 big-league games, but he'll get more consistent playing time in Toronto down the stretch and get a chance to replicate something closer to his minor-league numbers -- in 71 career games for Triple-A Sugar Land, he has a .256/.352/.498 slash line with 18 home runs and 13 steals.

Loperfido, right-handed pitcher Jake Bloss and infielder Will Wagner were traded to the Blue Jays in exchange for left-hander Yusei Kikuchi on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Loperfido made his major-league debut with the Astros in April, producing a .236 average with two home runs, 16 RBI, 11 runs scored and two stolen bases over 106 at-bats in 38 games with Houston to this point. The 25-year-old has played both first base and in the outfield this season and he'll provide Toronto with a versatile asset moving forward.
