Panik is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Panik will sit for a second straight game with another lefty in Dallas Keuchel starting for the opposition. Ruben Tejada, who was promoted from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, is starting at second base and hitting seventh in his place.

Panik has agreed to a big-league contract with the Mets, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets still have to clear a spot on the 25-man roster, but this is a done deal. Panik lives close to Citi Field and will have an opportunity to earn significant playing time with Robinson Cano (hamstring) possibly done for the year, so this seems like a good fit. He hit .235/.310/.317 with three home runs, four steals and a 38:36 K:BB in 388 plate appearances before the Giants cut him loose. Look for him to play every day against righties (career 100 wRC+), but possibly sit against southpaws (career 85 wRC+).

Panik could be an option for the Mets as they look to replace Robinson Cano (hamstring), Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nothing will likely happen until Panik clears waivers Friday afternoon, but the 28-year-old is a New York native and adding him to the mix at the keystone would allow the Mets to move Jeff McNeil back to right field. Panik's .627 OPS so far this year is the worst of his career, but playing at home during a playoff race might perk up his bat. Wherever he lands, he figures to add some World Series experience to the bench of a contender.

Panik was placed on unconditional release waivers Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Panik was a useful player for the Giants in his first few years in the league, but he's done very little lately, hitting .245/.308/.325 since the start of 2018. He'll be free to find a new organization and could wind up with a fair amount of playing time down the stretch if he finds himself in the right situation, but nothing in his recent track record suggests that he'll be a particularly interesting fantasy option.

Panik was designated for assignment by the Giants on Tuesday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
After the Giants traded for Scooter Gennett at the trade deadline, it became obvious that Panik was in for a reduced role, and after failing to draw a start over the last three games, he's been booted from the 40-man. Despite batting .235 with three homers and 27 RBI over 103 contests this season for San Francisco, Panik could receive some interest while on waivers.

Panik is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Panik will stick in a bench role for all three games of the series in Colorado with new acquisition Scooter Gennett stepping in as the Giants' primary second baseman. Gennett could check out of the lineup on occasion when the Giants oppose left-handed starting pitchers, but the righty-hitting Donovan Solono is a likelier candidate than Panik to start at the keystone in those scenarios.

Panik is expected to surrender his role as the Giants' primary second baseman to the newly acquired Scooter Gennett when San Francisco begins a three-game series in Colorado on Friday, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Panik will handle the keystone and bat seventh Thursday in Philadelphia, he's likely just keeping the seat warm at second base while Gennett receives the day off to get acclimated to his new organization. Given that both Gennett and Panik are left-handed hitters, a platoon arrangement isn't a viable solution, potentially putting Panik's spot on the 40-man roster in jeopardy. Panik has slashed a mediocre .232/.307/.315 (68 wRC+) across 379 plate appearances this season, and his top backup at second base, Donovan Solano (117 wRC+), has outperformed him by a healthy margin.

Panik isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Panik will get the night off with a southpaw in Reynaldo Lopez slated to take the mound for Philadelphia. Donovan Solano draws the start at second base and will lead off with Panik out of the equation.
