Kelly will be suspended six games for his role in Wednesday's altercation against the Yankees, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly was ejected from the game after hitting Tyler Austin with a pitch that lead to the second bench-clearing brawl of Wednesday's affair. Austin was also given a suspension, his for five games. Both players will appeal the ruling and be available for Thursday's series finale.

Kelly was ejected in the seventh inning of Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Yankees after hitting Tyler Austin with a pitch that precipitated a bench-cleaning brawl.
EDGE Analysis
Austin slid into second base spikes high on Brock Holt back in the third inning, and Kelly took it upon himself to send the Yankee a message in response, just missing him with an 0-1 pitch before drilling him in the hip with a 98 mph fastball two pitches later. Expect Kelly to face additional league discipline after the incident.

Kelly pitched a scoreless ninth inning to collect his first save of the season during Sunday's 2-1 win over Tampa Bay. He allowed two hits and struck out two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Craig Kimbrel closed out the previous two games, so it wasn't surprising to see him receive the day off Sunday. Kelly allowed four runs and only retired a single batter during his appearance on Opening Day, so this was a much better showing. Still, the hard-throwing righty shouldn't be viewed as a reliable source of saves as long as Kimbrel is healthy.

Kelly allowed four runs on one hit and three walks in a third of an inning in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly came on to do what he was projected to do: caretake a lead through the eighth inning. But an old bugaboo -- command -- did him in. He ranked second among relievers last season in fastball velocity, but can't always harness that power. The bullpen meltdown is exaggerated because it was Opening Day, but Kelly will continue to get setup work.

Kelly is set to pitch Sunday after taking a comebacker off his shin Wednesday, Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
X-rays after the incident came back negative and Kelly should have a normal spring. He'll be in the late-inning relief mix this season along with Carson Smith, Matt Barnes and Tyler Thornburg.

Kelly was struck in the shin by a batted ball during live batting practice and is receiving precautionary X-rays, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports..
EDGE Analysis
Kelly walked off under his own power, and the Red Sox believe he's uninjured. More details should be known once the X-ray results are in. It doesn't sound serious, but if there does turn out to be a fracture, Kelly would presumably miss some time at the start of the season.

Kelly agreed to a one-year, $3.825 million deal with the Red Sox on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was the final offseason that he is an arbitration-eligible player, and the right-hander received a $1.025 million increase from last year. Kelly was able to have a bounce-back campaign in 2017, posting a 2.79 ERA and 1.19 WHIP with a 52:27 K:BB in 58 innings of relief. He should be in the mix to work high-leverage situations this upcoming season, but still leaves something to be desired with his strikeout and command issues.

Kelly (4-1) struck out the side in the 10th inning to earn the victory in Boston's 1-0 win over Baltimore in 11 innings Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox have no shortage of relievers putting up impressive numbers during the month of September. Add Kelly to that mix. He pitched three perfect innings in an extra-inning win over Tampa Bay last Friday and is looking like he'll be a key bullpen piece should the Red Sox qualify for the postseason.

Kelly retired all nine batters he faced in Friday's 13-6 extra-inning win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly carried the Red Sox from the 11th through the 13th innings in what may have been his finest performance of the season. While his ERA stands at 2.72, Kelly's 3.67 FIP speaks to a less effective reliever that hasn't been completely trusted in high-leverage spots. The makeup of Boston's setup men leading up to closer Craig Kimbrel has been a dance choreographed by manager John Farrell all season, so Kelly's effort Friday could alter the setup crew once again.
