Kelly used the practice of throwing into a net during MLB's shutdown to work on his four-seam fastball, Rowan Kavner of Dodger Insider reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Statcast, Kelly threw his four-seamer 28 percent of the time in 2019, a marked dropoff from the 49.9 percent frequency on which he threw the pitch the previous season. The right-hander attributed the decrease to mechanics, explaining, "At the time before all this happened, I was essentially throwing a one-finger fastball. My index finger was coming off the heater. I was losing spin efficiency." Each of Kelly's fastballs in Thursday's intrasquad game were four-seamers, and given the positive results, it's logical to expect his use of the pitch to revert closer to his career norm this season.

Kelly pitched a scoreless inning Wednesday in his first appearance of spring training, allowing one hit and striking out two. His fastball velocity was in the mid-90s and his curveball clocked in at 89 mph, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly struggled to stay healthy at the end of last season, logging only five innings in September. He indicated following Wednesday's outing that he feels healthy this spring due in part to an altered offseason training regimen focused on finding the right strength training for his lean body type. Kelly also visited the Driveline Baseball complex over the winter and emerged with a slightly different fastball grip aimed at improving his spin rate. That could help Kelly maintain more consistency this season -- he posted a 5.28 ERA prior to the All-Star break in 2019 but improved that mark to 3.48 during the second half.

Kelly pitched two-thirds of an inning against the Giants on Sunday, retiring both hitters on groundouts.
EDGE Analysis
It was an uneventful return for Kelly, who has been dealing with an undisclosed physical ailment and had not pitched since Sept. 18. He needed only six pitches to retire both hitters he faced in the brief outing. Despite Kelly's recent lack of appearances, the right-hander is expected to be ready to contribute when the NLDS begins Thursday.

Manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Kelly (undisclosed) will work the sixth or seventh inning in Sunday's game against the Giants, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly has been dealing with an unspecified physical issue that has prevented him from making an appearance since Sept. 18, but the Dodgers are comfortable enough with his health to work him into the pitching schedule in the regular-season finale. Assuming Kelly looks good during the outing and reports no setbacks coming out of the contest, he'll likely have a spot waiting for him on the Dodgers' postseason roster.

Kelly (undisclosed) is set to throw a bullpen session Friday, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly will throw for the third straight day, and if all goes well, the Dodgers are hopeful to get him an outing sometime over the weekend. He's not expected to be back at 100 percent for the postseason, however.

Kelly is suffering from poor "overall body" health and is unlikely to be fully recovered for the playoffs, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Both the Dodgers and Kelly have been unable to provide a clear explanation of the right-hander's ailment, though Kelly indicated that it is hampering "certain movements that are related to pitching." The 31-year-old plans to pitch again before the end of the regular season, but he made it clear that he's unlikely to return to full strength anytime soon. Kelly has posted a 4.62 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 62:22 K:BB in 50.2 innings this season.

Kelly (lower body) is not expected to pitch again until Sunday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Dave Roberts previously suggested that Kelly would return to the mound Thursday, but plans appear to have changed and Kelly will now have only one outing -- the season finale against the Giants -- to gear up for the postseason. He'll need to make it through a bullpen session first, currently scheduled for Friday. Although Roberts has insisted that Kelly would be pitching if the playoffs were underway, Kelly's lack of playing time down the stretch -- he has appeared in only one game since Sept. 14 -- and the vague details about his condition are becoming increasingly concerning.

Kelly (lower body) won't pitch Tuesday or Wednesday but may return Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly has appeared in only one game since Sept. 14 while dealing with what manager Dave Roberts vaguely described as "overall bodyitis." Despite the extended time off and mysterious nature of Kelly's condition, Roberts suggested a lack of concern and indicated that Kelly will likely pitch Thursday. The 31-year-old is expected to play a central role in the Dodgers' bullpen in the postseason.

Kelly is a dealing with a lower-body issue that will limit his usage until the postseason, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly had been dealing with a leg injury earlier in September that limited his usage. It's unclear if his new issue is related, though he's appeared in only one contest since Sept. 15 and pitched 0.1 innings. However, it doesn't sound as if Kelly is entirely unavailable, so he should take the mound on at least a couple occasions prior to the close of the regular season.
