Manager Joe Maddon said that Adell was held out of Sunday's lineup because of soreness after the outfielder ran into the outfield wall Saturday. He'll sit for the second game in a row Tuesday, and it remains to be seen if he'll be available off the bench. Adell can remain considered day-to-day as Juan Lagares starts in right field Tuesday.

Maddon said it's possible Adell will be available off the bench in Sunday's series finale against the Astros. Adell has gone 1-for-5 in consecutive games and is hitting .297 with a triple, three home runs and eight RBI in his last 10 contests. Phil Gosselin is starting in left field and batting third Sunday.

The 22-year-old took Daniel Hudson deep in the eighth inning for his fourth homer of the campaign. Though his batting average sits at a modest .250, Adell has been improving at the plate, slashing .450/.500/.900 with three homers, eight RBI and a stolen base over his current six-game hitting streak.

Adell might have finished with just one knock, but he was still responsible for three of the team's four runs in a big win over one of the best teams in the National League -- he delivered a two-run single in the top of the seventh and later added another RBI on a groundout that scored Phil Gosselin. Perhaps more importantly, Adell has now extended his hitting streak to five games, a span in which he's gone 8-for-17 (.471) with two homers, six RBI and three runs.

EDGE Analysis
Adell had one of his biggest offensive games in his young career. He reached base in all four plate appearances, highlighted by two home runs off Taylor Hearn. He is batting .325 over his last 12 games. The 22-year-old is slashing .245/.297/.391 with three long balls, 21 RBI and 14 runs scored in 118 plate appearances on the season.

EDGE Analysis
The Angels managed only six hits in the contest, but that was enough to pull out the victory as Jose Suarez held the Rangers to a lone run. Adell contributed with a fifth-inning single and steal, though he was ultimately stranded at second base. The 22-year-old has stolen as many as 15 bags during one minor-league season (2018), so he has some potential to contribute in that area as he establishes himself in the majors.

Adell's first big-league triple brought home two runs in the second inning, and he knocked in two more with a single in the following frame. He has two four-RBI games since Aug. 17 but is batting only .179 in 28 at-bats over that stretch.

EDGE Analysis
Adell made his first major-league appearance of the season and delivered an excellent opening performance. He drew a walk in his first plate appearance and followed that up by delivering a two-run double and RBI single later in the game. Though no conclusions can be drawn from one contest, perhaps most encouraging was that Adell did not strike out. In 132 MLB appearances in 2020, Adell struck out at a 41.7 percent clip. His inability to make consistent contact continued this season with Triple-A Salt Lake, where he punched out at a 29.2 percent rate before being promoted.
