Adell was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Adell was undoubtedly deserving of a promotion, having collected a .958 OPS with 18 home runs this season with Salt Lake. He's still striking out at a 29.2 percent rate, though, and might only be up with the big club for as long as Hunter Renfroe is on paternity leave. Adell is not in the Angels' lineup Wednesday but is expected to start Thursday versus lefty Drew Smyly, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Adell was scratched from Triple-A Salt Lake's lineup ahead of Wednesday's game versus Round Rock and could be in store for a promotion to the Angels, Taylor Blake Ward of The Sporting Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ward notes that Hunter Renfroe is slated to go on paternity leave at any moment, and because Adell is the only Angels outfielder on the 40-man roster who isn't currently on the 26-man roster, he would make for an obvious replacement. Adell has put up a .958 OPS with 18 home runs this season with Salt Lake, but he's still striking out at an elevated 29.2 percent rate over 240 plate appearances.

Through 12 games with Triple-A Salt Lake this season, Adell is slashing .347/.448/.939 with eight home runs, five doubles, 14 runs and 17 RBI.
EDGE Analysis
Adell set a Salt Lake franchise record by homering in six straight games from April 4-9. Though that streak came to an end with an 0-for-4 performance April 11, the outfielder bounced back with another homer in his following game, and he went a combined 5-for-11 in his previous two contests heading into Friday. Adell's power surge has come with plenty of strikeouts -- he's fanned multiple times in six of his past eight games -- but the 2017 first-round draft pick is certainly turning heads with his fast start to the campaign. There's a good possibility that he'll make his way back up to the majors at some point this season, but it would likely take an injury for him to garner significant playing time with the big club with Taylor Ward, Mike Trout and Hunter Renfroe locked in as the Angels' starting outfield.

Adell is slashing .350/.500/.950 with three home runs, three doubles, six runs and nine RBI through six games with Triple-A Salt Lake.
EDGE Analysis
Adell was unable to make the Angels' Opening Day roster out of spring training, but he's making an early push to get his next chance in the majors. He's reached base in all six games that he's played in the minors so far this season and has homered in three straight contests. One of Adell's biggest struggles to this point in his career has been making contact -- he struck out at a 37.7 percent clip over 284 big-league plate appearances last season -- but he's shown dramatic improvement thus far in 2023, striking out just four times while drawing five walks over 26 trips to the dish. Adell is a few years removed from being one of the game's top prospects, and even if he does make it back to the majors soon, he isn't likely to have an everyday role with Mike Trout, Taylor Ward and Hunter Renfroe locked in as the Angels' starting outfielders.

Adell was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake by the Angels on Friday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Both Adell and Mickey Moniak were informed they wouldn't be making the Opening Day roster. The 23-year-old hit just .229 over 51 plate appearances in the Cactus League coming into Friday, but he did homer four times with a .500 slugging percentage. Adell still has time to develop into a quality player, but nothing he's shown thus far at the highest level suggests that it's coming soon.

Adell is expected to begin the season at Triple-A, MLB.com reports. He's hitting .250 with two home runs in a .734 OPS this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Adell had a problematic 37.7% strikeout rate last season and it's been a similar story this spring. He has 16 strikeouts and just two walks in 39 plate appearances this spring.

Adell went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in a 4-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Adell homered off Glenn Otto in the second inning for his eighth long ball of the season. It has been a disappointing year for Adell, who has struggled immensely to get on base and has found himself on the short side of an outfield platoon due to his .263 OBP and weak fielding. The silver lining is that Adell has set career highs in at-bats and homers and is still only 23 years old.

Adell is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
Adell will take a seat for the fourth time in six games and appears to have moved into the short side of a platoon in left field with the lefty-hitting Mickey Moniak, who is serving as the Angels' leadoff man for the second day in a row. Since the All-Star break, Adell has turned in a .609 OPS while striking out at a 38.1 percent clip, which has made it tough for the Angels to justify giving him everyday playing time.

Adell isn't starting Saturday against the Astros, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adell has hit just .118 with a solo home run, a double, two runs and eight strikeouts over six games since the start of September. He'll take a seat for a second consecutive game while Mickey Moniak starts in left field and bats seventh.

Adell is not in the lineup Friday against the Astros, Edwin Perez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Adell will get a day off Friday against Houston after slashing just .118/.118/.353 over the past week. Mickey Moniak will take over in left field for him and bat eighth.
