Flores was released by the Braves on Friday. Flores was a long shot to earn a roster spot over either Christian Bethancourt or A.J. Pierzynski, and his .179 (5-for-28) spring batting average certainly did not help. Flores has not appeared in the majors since 2012, but he should be able to land a minor league job somewhere.

Flores has signed a minor league deal with the Braves, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. A former back-up for the Nationals, Flores has fallen onto hard times, hitting .200 in Triple-A for the Rays, Dodgers, and Royals' affiliates across the last two seasons. He will compete for a back-up spot in spring training, but it's doubtful he comes anywhere close to the major league roster without an injury to Christian Bethancourt and A.J. Pierzynski.

Dodgers signed C Jesus Flores to a minor league contract with a spring training invite. Flores was non-tendered by the Nationals in late November after batting just .213/.248/.329 with six home runs and 26 RBI last season. He also threw out just 15 percent (nine out of 60) attempted basestealers. He'll function as depth behind A.J. Ellis and Tim Federowicz.

Nationals non-tender C Jesus Flores. With Wilson Ramos and Kurt Suzuki handling the catching duties, Flores appears to be the odd man out. The 27-year-old had a disappointing season, hitting .213/.248/.329 with six homers and 26 RBI in 2012.

Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com hears that the Mets are eyeing Jesus Flores and Carlos Maldonado of the Nationals in their search for catching help. Flores is a former Mets farmhand that the Nats picked up in the Rule 5 Draft. He's batted .241/.289/.375 over parts of five seasons with Washington. Either he or Maldonado would likely be used in a platoon role with Josh Thole.

Jesus Flores launched a three-run homer Tuesday night in the Nationals' 4-1 defeat of the Braves. The critical blast off Paul Maholm in the fifth inning was his only hit in three trips to the plate. Flores is batting just .218 on the season with four homers and 22 RBI, and has been losing at-bats to Kurt Suzuki over the past few weeks. They're both weak fantasy options.

Jesus Flores (back) is in the Nationals' starting lineup Tuesday against the Mets. Flores was rested each of the last two days after receiving an anti-inflammatory injection in his back on Saturday. However, the Nationals are encouraged enough with his progress to insert him back into the lineup.

Jesus Flores (back) is out of the Nationals' lineup again Monday. Flores has been battling a sore back recently and received an anti-inflammatory injection on Saturday. He's feeling better, but the Nats won't start him until he proves he can take batting practice. Sandy Leon is starting behind the dish Monday.
